Forest Lagoon, Iceland’s latest luxury geothermal to open this month in North Iceland

Later this month, Forest Lagoon will open its doors to provide guests with an unforgettable and relaxing spa experience in Akureyri – known locally in Iceland as the “Capital of the North”.

Forest Lagoon is located among the birch and pine trees of the Vaðlaskógur forest. The new luxury geothermal spa is just a couple minutes’ drive from Akureyri in North Iceland, which from 2nd June, will benefit from a direct flight from the UK thanks to new carrier Niceair. Just 100km from the Arctic Circle and regarded as the ‘Capital of the North’, Akureyri was previously only accessible via a five-hour drive or connecting domestic flights from Iceland’s largest airport, Keflavik, this new route to Akureyri means travellers can explore Iceland’s incredible new geothermal spa.

Using geothermal water from a recently discovered hot spring, the 1,300 square-metre complex features a beautiful wood-cladded design and boasts two infinity pools with multiple swim-up bars offering incredible views overlooking Eyjafjörður – one of Iceland’s longest fjords. Guests can also relax in the spa’s sauna, cold tub and quiet room, or delight in fireside dining at the on-site Bistro which will serve delicious local food and beer.

With space to accommodate up to 200 guests at any one time, Forest Lagoon is complete with changing room lockers and charging stations for electric cars and bikes.

Single admission to Forest Lagoon costs 5,800 Icelandic Króna (approx. £34), or a two-person package including admission and two drinks costs 13,900 Icelandic Króna (approx. £82).
