Four Seasons Resort Costa Rica Completes $35 Million Renovation
As the crown jewel of the 1,400 acre (570 hectare) Peninsula Papagayo on the north Pacific coast of Costa Rica, Four Seasons Resort Costa Rica now features 182 re-imagined guest rooms, suites and villas; a redesigned lobby with a striking open-air gathering space and updated retail area; four new culinary concepts featuring locally-sourced cuisine and redesigned spaces; and an enhanced signature pool area with new luxury cabanas, amenities and programing. Renowned New York City-based Meyer Davis Design Studio brings a handcrafted approach to effortlessly integrating the Resort’s signature indoor-outdoor spaces with the peninsula’s vibrant tropical landscape.

“We are thrilled to welcome travellers from around the world to our contemporary new take on tropical luxury,” says General Manager Michael Mestraud. “With unique Costa Rican warmth and evocative design, our new Resort experience is an unmatched haven for going off the grid or embarking on adventures of a lifetime.”

Lobby

The redesigned lobby features inviting open-air gathering spaces that exude a see-and-be-seen resort vibe. The new design vision weaves together a soothing, natural colour palette, rich elements from nature, indigenous art and local wood to reveal an ongoing visual dialogue of discovery. Evoking a fine art gallery, the walls feature works by local Costa Rican artists and other Latin American artists.

Re-Inspired Culinary Concepts

Complementing the property’s existing premier American steakhouse restaurant Caracol, the Resort introduces four new culinary concepts with exciting menus and striking enhanced spaces that feature a combination of natural colours, rich elements and indigenous art.

Bahia: Offering the most sophisticated in Latin American cuisine and taste, Bahia features locally-produced ingredients prepared in a wood-fired open kitchen. This all-day dining restaurant starts the morning with a bountiful breakfast buffet, featuring an authentic Costa Rican Café Chorreado.
Pesce: Boasting a panoramic ocean view and Italian flair, Pesce is a sophisticated seafood kitchen inviting guests to enjoy an unforgettable evening at the Chef’s Table where the chef de cuisine prepares a customised menu inspired by the freshest local flavours of the day and pasta specialities enhanced by expertly paired wines.
Anejo: Whether looking for a grab-and-go breakfast by day or pre-dinner cocktail and tapas by night, Anejo invites guests to start the morning with an energising acai bowl or green juice, or wait until the afternoon when the venue transforms into the libation destination of the Resort offering an extensive cocktail repertoire serving top premium liquors and spirits selections.
La Reserva: La Reserva offers a rum journey like no other with an in-house mixologist and premium rums, with opportunity to create one’s very own rum blend and infusions. During the day the space serves as the Discovery Center where patrons can meet with the concierge to learn more about Peninsula Papagayo, local wildlife and Costa Rican history through tours and excursions.

Guest Rooms and Suites

The 182 guest rooms, suites and villas have been transformed into stylish retreats of intimate luxury and comfort ideal for today’s modern travellers. Inspired by local design and aesthetic, prominent design firm Meyer Davis Design Studio plays with space, form, texture and light to create a sense of effortless, sun-soaked luxury. Guests can enjoy new furnishings, a natural colour palette, opulent textures and local artisan pieces in each room and on every private balcony or patio. Five of the one-bedroom hillside Canopy Suites also feature new, luxurious plunge pools.
