George Clooney Hand-Delivers Casamigos Tequila to Hotel Cipriani
Curious guests looked on as Clooney unloaded cases of his award-winning tequila at the Orient-Express Hotels Ltd. property, bringing to life its slogan ‘brought to you by those who drink it'. The star is a regular guest at Hotel Cipriani and it is the first hotel in Europe to stock the brand.

Created by Clooney with restaurant and bar mogul Rande Gerber, Casamigos was named after the friends' properties in Mexico and roughly translates to ‘house of friends'. George and Rande, who launched Casamigos in January after enjoying it privately for many years, say of the spirit, ‘Our idea was to make the best-tasting, smoothest tequila whose taste didn't have to be covered up with salt or lime'.

Since its launch, Casamigos has become the world's most popular and fastest-growing tequila, with Oprah Winfrey naming it her favourite brand. It was awarded a Gold Medal at the Los Angeles International Spirits Competition and major distribution throughout Europe is in the pipeline. Earlier this week, Casamigos was enjoyed by guests at the opening night of the Venice Film Festival, which was attended by Clooney.

To mark the arrival of Casamigos at Hotel Cipriani, head barman Walter Bolzonella has created a signature cocktail named Goodnight Amigos, an adaptation of Clooney's own cocktail, the Buonatte. As well as the original ingredients of lime, ginger and cucumber peel, the cocktail contains two drops of Angostura and, of course, a tequila base.
