Going on an airline trip? Here’s what you should pack

The airline industry has had a rough time in the pandemic since the number of flights dropped from 4,723 in 2020 to 1,807 in 2021. Luckily, as we’re returning to normality, people have started traveling again, even if ticket prices are skyrocketing now. New air routes are included, and the world awaits to be seen, so get prepared! We made a short guide on what to pack while traveling by air, for shorter and longer trips, along with some tips on how to get cheaper flights.

For shorter flights

Shorter flights allow you to pack everything in a backpack, which is better than having a suitcase or more because you won’t pay for the luggage and won’t have to worry about it being lost in the luggage aisle. Furthermore, you won’t need that many things on a shorter trip, be it for business or leisure. So, here’s what you should pack:

  • Wallet with all the documents needed. If possible, try to carry them all in a digital form, as it saves space, and keeping them all in your phone is safer. To increase security, you could purchase a phone neck holder to put around your neck. Therefore you’re not at risk of theft or losing your phone.
  • Chargers and adapters for phones and other devices (like earphones). Remember that the only thing helping with ear-popping pains while flying is chewing some gum while listening to music can help you calm down if you’re feeling nervous.
  • A small emergency kit containing some basic medication for headaches, deodorant, toothbrush and toothpaste, sunscreen, tissues, and everything else for your hygiene (including socks and underwear). Luckily, you can find small containers for  and keep a small amount of shower gel or shampoo to fit in your backpack.

If you’re on a business trip, it’s less likely you’ll have to take so many things with you because your accommodation and meals will be covered. According to skyclub.com, you can add a hotel to save money when traveling by air. Searching for how to get business class flights cheap with additional features will make your business trip less expensive while working and relaxing in great conditions.

For longer flights

When traveling for more hours, it’s normal you’d pack many more things with you. Along with the previous tips for your trip, here’s what you should consider having on a longer stay:

  • Reusable water bottle. You’ll see that most airports provide drinks, snacks and food, but they’re quite expensive. Maybe you’ll need to buy a water bottle if you’re traveling for more than five hours, but before and after that, you could have a refillable water bottle to cut corners.
  • A neck pillow. Traveling for so many hours will be tiring, and you may fall asleep in the airport or airplane, but that can damage your neck, as your sleeping position is not at all healthy. So, consider having a neck pillow so that you can have a decent sleep and not wake up with neck pain that will be ruining your vacation. You can also purchase a sleeping mask to cover your eyes when it’s too bright outside to sleep comfortably.
  • Warmer clothes. Suppose you’re traveling in the summer and only think of packing shorts, dresses and t-shirts. Well, think again and consider that you may be spending time in colder places, like the airport. If you’re traveling at night or going out later in the night, you may catch a cold. So, having a hoodie or sweater should be enough, but if you have plenty of space, consider having some pants, warmer socks and maybe a beanie. Plus, you could buy compression socks or tights to keep your feet from falling asleep and prevent other symptoms caused by sitting too long.
  • Travel insurance. No matter where you go, if you plan to stay a few weeks, you need to have travel insurance to cover any inconveniences that might occur. Whether you fall or something else happens, and you get injured, you might not be provided with the right treatment, so consider having traveling insurance to keep your expenses low.
  • A book or kindle. By traveling between countries, there will be times when there won’t be any internet connection around, and you know you’re not allowed to use your Internet while flying because it might interfere with the plane’s navigation system. Instead, try taking a book or other reading devices to keep you entertained. You can look up some book recommendations online or ask for a friend’s advice on what to read to keep you preoccupied for a few hours.
