Grand Hyatt Kauai Resort & Spa Provides Premier Year-Round Oasis on Hawaii's Garden Island

Grand Hyatt Kauai Resort & Spa, a luxurious 605-room resort located on 50 immaculately-landscaped oceanfront acres overlooking Keoneloa Bay, provides a premier getaway to Hawaii’s Garden Island. Encompassing the essence of Kauai’s green lush setting and vibrant culture, the resort features a wide array of memorable experiences for travelers, from weekly luaus and an on-site cultural center, to award-winning spa and golf.

“Grand Hyatt Kauai provides a unique island experience paired with premier hospitality and service to ensure an unforgettable getaway,” said Michael Murphy, general manager of Grand Hyatt Kauai Resort & Spa. “Located on Kauai’s beautiful south shore, the resort offers stunning year-round weather, luxury amenities for the entire family, and a spectacular design that highlights Kauai’s romantic open-air ambiance.”

Open-Air, Island-Style Design

When guests enter Grand Hyatt Kauai Resort & Spa, they are immediately greeted by the grandeur of the Pacific Ocean with an uncovered courtyard featuring spanning views of the waterfront setting. The design of the resort showcases Kauai’s beautiful climate with several lush courtyards and open-air breezeways that connect each area of the resort.

Recently, the resort renovated each of its 42 suites to provide new and enhanced accommodations for travelers. The new suites are designed after a Kauai island home, and feature a welcoming and bright island ambience with new furniture, enhanced amenities, and new flooring and fixtures. Additionally, each of the hotel’s 605 rooms offer a private lanai further highlighting the open-air design of the property.

On-Site Education & Culture

The resort is home to Ke Kumu O Hihinui, a cultural center designed to help travelers learn about native Hawaiian history and culture. Guests can visit the center and meet the resort’s Manager of Hawaiian Culture, Moani Tolentino, and take part in unique activities such as Hawaiian language, hula and ukulele classes, coconut basket weaving, and more. The property also provides a weekly luau showcasing the vibrant dances of Polynesia and a feast including traditional and modern Hawaiian cuisine.

Guests can also join “Sappy,” a long-time local fisherman for a ʻupena poepoe throw net fishing experience, where they learn traditional fishing methods that were brought to the islands centuries ago. The resort also offers laʻau kukui nut lei making class where guests learn about the many uses of the kukui tree as a symbol of light, rejuvenation, and optimism.

Tropical Island Oasis

Grand Hyatt Kauai showcases a true island oasis with expansive, multi-level pool decks. Guests can relax at a 1.5-acre saltwater lagoon complete with a sandy beach and views overlooking Keoneloa Bay. The complex also provides a meandering river pool with cascading waterfalls, an activity pool with a water volleyball net, a 150-foot waterslide, an adults-only pool offering a tranquil setting, and multiple soothing whirlpools.

Additionally, the resort is adjacent to Shipwreck Beach, one of the most popular spots on the island for surfing and bodyboarding. Guests can also take a short walk to Poipu Beach, which features golden sand, calm water, swimming and snorkeling opportunities.

Tranquility at Anara Spa

Travelers can relax while immersed in the lush tropical setting of Anara Spa. The spa’s open-air treatment rooms and private garden hale (bungalows) feature tropical gardens, cascading waterfalls, and natural island ambiance. Signature services include the Lomilomi massage, a traditional massage of Hawaii that focuses on flowing strokes to sooth tension and ease the body, mind, and spirit as well as a Pohaku Massage, which uses warm stones to ground, center, and soothe. Before and after a treatment, guests can enjoy the spa’s luxe amenities including an outdoor 25-yard lap pool and cold plunge, lava rock showers, a eucalyptus steam room, sauna, whirlpools, and fitness center.

Award-Winning Golf Course

Set against a spectacular oceanfront setting, Poipu Bay Golf Course spans 210 acres along the south shore of Kauai. The 18-hole course was designed by world-renowned architect Robert Trent Jones Jr. in 1991 and features 85 bunkers and five water hazards with holes that run along rocky ocean cliffs and the lush green setting. Golfers will see historic cultural sites including a Hawaiian heiau (place of worship) and stone walls which can be found throughout the course.

Poipu Bay Golf Course also provides state-of-the-art amenities including in-cart satellite navigation with precise distance measurement to the hole and pin placement. It also features a practice facility complete with all grass tees, a practice bunker, putting green, and chipping green. A Toptracer Range is also available and offers ball-tracing technology for an elevated driving range experience.

Premier Island Cuisine

Travelers can experience modern island fare at the resort’s signature restaurant, Tidepools. Featuring a breathtaking open-air setting in a thatched-roof hale floating above a koi-filled lagoon, the restaurant serves everything from fresh seafood to delicious steak selections. The resort is also home to sushi and spirit selections at Stevenson’s Library, breakfast backdropped by stunning garden views at Ilima Terrace, and live music and al fresco dining at Seaview Terrace.

Enhanced Sustainability Practices

Grand Hyatt Kauai Resort & Spa showcases a variety of sustainability practices that help guests be eco-minded in their travels. In 2015, the resort redesigned one of its tennis courts into a 3,000 square-foot hydroponic garden which weekly produces 400 to 600 pounds of lettuce, micro-greens and herbs that are used at events and in each of the property’s on-site restaurants.

The resort also features an 18,500 square-foot solar photovoltaic system and grass-covered roofs to reduce cooling needs and energy use. Additionally, the heat produced by the air conditioning system is used to heat water for the on-site swimming pools. Among many other green travel initiatives, the resort also provides reusable aluminum water bottles to each guest which can be refilled at filtered water stations located around the property.

Regenerative Travel Opportunities

For the past 15 years, Grand Hyatt Kauai has been leading the way in regenerative travel experiences designed to help travelers give back and support the island community during their vacation. The resort’s “Enrich” program provides several immersive voluntourism opportunities including adopting a dog for the day from Kauai Humane Society for a fun island outing, beach clean-up experiences, and volunteer activities at the National Tropical Botanical Garden. Additionally, the resort partners with Habitat for Humanity to help the island with one of its biggest challenges – affordable housing. Guests can help the Habitat crew on build projects where they will take part in various construction activities or volunteer at the Habitat Re-store.
