Guys Weekend Goes Gourmet in Newport, Rhode Island

The Guys Getaway Package launches this May with a variety of experiences sure to satisfy any group’s appetite for a culinary adventure. The two-night offer includes a craft beer tasting, 12-meter sailing experience, a single malt scotch tasting, dinner at The Grill and a relaxing Sunday brunch.

The trip kicks off at the hotel’s casually hip restaurant Christie’s with dinner and a series of four specially selected craft beers. The group can dine on favorite New England dishes such as Steamed Lobster, Fried Clams & Oysters and Pan Seared Tilapia along with fun, innovative selections such as the Baja Fish Tacos and the PEI Mussels with Coconut Milk and Lemongrass.

The action picks up with a two-hour ride aboard a classic 12-meter America’s Cup racing yacht. While gliding through Newport Harbor, adventurous guests can take a hands-on approach and man the sails alongside the experienced crew. For a more relaxed ride, sit back and take in the remarkable harbor views before enjoying an optional dockside selection of lobster rolls, chips and champagne for an additional $24 per person.

Back on dry land, the group will be greeted with an early evening Single Malt Scotch Tasting highlighting a selection of five different batches from the Glenmorangie Distillery. The private tasting will be led in the Library Bar by one of the property’s knowledgeable staff and will explore each whiskey’s unique aging process and flavor profile. While indulging in the smooth, aromatic scotch and a few games of billiards, the group will learn how to determine a scotch’s fineness and how to craft the perfect cocktail.

With the final glass of scotch in hand, the guys will drift over to the hotel’s exclusive dockside restaurant, The Grill. Here, the group will look out over glistening backdrop of Newport Harbor before diving into the finely crafted menu of grilled meats, seafood and raw bar along with locally and organically sourced selections. With a $150 dining credit per person, guests will enjoy dishes such as the Braised Pork Belly appetizer; Scallop Sashimi with caramelized melon, togarashi, ginger and lime; Petrossian Royal Ossetra Caviar and the pièce de résistance – Japanese A-5 Wagyu Beef.

After dinner, guests can retire to the luxurious guestrooms and unwind in front of the in-room fireplace, or order from the hotel’s special Late Night Dining Menu that delivers after-hours treats such as Colossal Shrimp Cocktail or Assorted Ice Cream & Sorbet flavors straight to the room. Before parting ways the next morning, each guest will receive a $50 dining credit for brunch at The Grill.

The Guys Getaway Package is priced from $850 per person for double occupancy or $1,400 per person for single occupancy. The offer also includes complimentary parking for both Friday and Saturday nights.
