Half Moon, the iconic resort in Montego Bay, Jamaica, has begun unveiling the first phase of its transformed and rebranded Villas at Half Moon.
A multi-million-dollar enhancement to the villa experience (formerly Rose Hall Villas by Half Moon) has significantly elevated the spacious and spectacular accommodations with a renewed focus on seamless indoor-outdoor living that welcomes the sights, sounds, and spirit of Jamaica into every space. This milestone marks the latest chapter in the resort’s 70-year legacy as Jamaica’s highest-rated resort and as part of Salamander Collection.
Located at the eastern end of Half Moon’s two miles of shorefront, Villas at Half Moon offers a standalone resort experience ideal for families and groups, with the comfort of a dedicated staff including a personal cook, housekeeper, and butler. The only villas designed as part of the Half Moon experience, each stay includes the privilege of effortless integration with the resort’s amenities and the assurance that you are not simply adjacent to Half Moon, but truly part of it.
Currently available in 6- and 7-bedroom layouts, each villa features a private pool, generous indoor and outdoor living areas, and either sweeping seafront views or serene garden settings framed by the soft rise of inland hills and mountains – all with an invitation to imagine what lies beyond. While Half Moon has welcomed royalty and luminaries over the decades, the true hallmark of a villa stay is how every guest is made to feel: cared for, celebrated, and entirely at home.
“For generations, Half Moon has remained a symbol of timeless Caribbean hospitality while continuously evolving to meet the needs of today’s discerning travelers,” said Guy Steuart III, chairman of Half Moon and steward of a founding family’s legacy. “Our intent is to respect the resort’s identity while curating moments that feel instinctive, restorative, and unforgettable.”
Designed by Atelier-Vidal of Kingston, Jamaica, the villas retain subtle references to the original architectural footprint while featuring a level of transformation that redefines them from the ground up. With entirely renovated interiors, elevated amenities, and a refined design language throughout, the result is a villa experience that feels wholly new, yet crafted with the same thoughtfulness, privacy, and sense of place that have long defined Half Moon. Enhancements include:
Creatively, each villa also carries the name of a painting by celebrated artist Michael Lester, whose vivid, expressionistic works are cherished for capturing the vibrant soul of Caribbean life. In addition to showcasing the named piece in a prominent location, other Lester works are featured throughout the new designs. Lester’s pieces, rich in color, movement, and storytelling, have long held a place of prominence across Half Moon’s 400 acres, forming an integral part of the resort’s visual identity. His art has become synonymous with the property’s sense of place, offering guests a meaningful connection to Jamaican culture and creativity.
Villas at Half Moon sets a new benchmark for luxury in the Caribbean. The work is the latest in a series of improvements at Half Moon, including the recent renovation of its Hibiscus neighborhood and the celebrated 2020 opening of Eclipse at Half Moon, which was named as one of the finest new properties in the world by multiple publications.
Just a 10-minute drive from Sangster International Airport, Half Moon features a triumvirate of resort options across its 400 acres: Founders Cove, Eclipse and the Villas. Founders Cove features its own crescent-shaped beach, swimming pools, swim-up bar and is adjacent to Half Moon’s tennis and recently renovated fitness amenities, and the Anancy Children’s Village. Eclipse at Half Moon includes 57 accommodations, a stunning infinity-edge pool, natural swimming cove, seven bars and restaurants, including the highly acclaimed Delmare.
All guests at Half Moon can also enjoy a variety of additional activities, including equestrian, watersports, tennis, pickleball and squash; and a wide range of dining options such as the legendary Cedar Bar and Half Moon’s award-winning signature restaurant Sugar Mill, known for its creative twist on Jamaican cuisine. For relaxation and restoration, guests can also enjoy a Robert Trent Jones Sr.-designed golf course, and Fern Tree, A Salamander Spa, which features two dramatic overwater bungalows for massage treatments and yoga classes.
