Healing and Wellness at Hotel Xcaret Mexico's Mystifying Muluk Spa

Muluk Spa at Hotel Xcaret Mexico offers an exotic escape and journey of wellness for today's travelers. In Mayan mythology Muluk is represented by a droplet of water and is the most sacred of natural forces representing the idea of hidden or inner potential and an opportunity for growth. To reset routines and prepare for the new world ahead, Muluk Spa offers a series of cleansing rituals steeped in ancient traditions to jumpstart a journey of healing and wellness.

Muluk Spa's unique design features 21 treatment rooms carved into a rocky hillside and made of stone, including a signature suite that overlooks a natural cenote. A sweat lodge nearby is immersed in the middle of the mystical Riviera Maya jungle, creating a dream-like setting to cleanse the body and mind.

“Muluk Spa provides an ideal space to disconnect from life and reconnect to our deeper selves," said Lorena Zahoul, Director of Hotel Xcaret Mexico. "In addition to providing a well-deserved rest, each one of our journeys and treatments focuses on caring for the spirit and soothing the soul. The Muluk journey is one of relaxation and renewal."

Muluk Spa offers four distinct healing journeys, each of which are inspired by the region’s ancient traditions.  The Mayan Journey infuses local products such as honey, cacao, cinnamon and clay into soothing facials and body treatments for the ultimate authentic experience, while the Sensorial Journey offers healing and cosmetic benefits from the mud room and flotarium based on ancestral techniques.

The Ayurvedic Journey is derived from the thousand-year-old wisdom of India, which approaches health from an integrated and personalized point of view. The ayurvedic massage is a stand-out experience of this journey, which seeks to balance the brain hemispheres through synchronized movements.  Finally, the Contemporary Journey completes the four wellness journeys at Muluk Spa utilizing the latest in technology to improve aesthetic care through non-invasive treatments for the face and body.

From the Aztec náhuatl word temazcalli or temazcall, which means “house where one sweats”, the temazcal offers a bathing ritual meant to recover balance through sweat and the elimination of toxins which helps achieve purity in the body. During this ritual, attendees will travel through phases linked to the movements of the sun and the Earth, to the cycles of nature and the stages of human life and will be guided to a moment of catharsis and reintegration with oneself, the cosmos and Mother Earth.

“The mission of the Muluk Spa is for our visitors to release negative thoughts and feelings and instead feel recharged with positive vibrations and renewed energy,” added Lorena Zahoul.

The ideal complement to any journey at Muluk Spa is a 50-minute Yoga Bio Ashtanga class where participants will learn the practice of conscious breathing through simple techniques that activate the organs and provide vitality.

Additional healing at Muluk Spa can be experienced through guided Qi Yo, an ancestral multiversal approach that unifies body and mind to achieve emotional, mental and spiritual benefits, while  a dedicated Wellness Bar offers nutritious snacks and relaxing drinks such as herbal-infused teas that utilize the healing benefits of seasonal fruits, herbs and roots.
