Planning the perfect honeymoon for my husband meant a lot to me. I wanted to choose a destination that would represent our exciting journey together and an even more exciting future. Europe had been on our bucket list for a while, so I decided to go beyond the mainstream and choose Iceland.
When I started looking for flights and hotels, I realized how different planning a romantic vacation can be from a regular holiday. Add to it the stress of wedding plans, and I felt like a walking ball of anxiety. That is when one of my friends recommended Thrillophilia.
PLANNING WITH THRILLOPHILIA
When I googled their Iceland packages, the variety of options left me speechless. From worrying about finding good hotels and transfers, I could now just simply browse through all-inclusive packages. We had always planned vacations on our own, so having to just focus on the fun parts was incredibly relaxing.
Since we were to get married in March, there was no way I would get to see the Northern Lights. So, I chose the next best option, the Scenic Iceland with Diamond Circle package after looking at the positive Thrillophilia reviews.
Once I had zeroed in on the package, I didn’t realise the experience would get even more relaxed. The team dealt with everything based on my preferences, while all I had to do was choose from the different options. They even suggested different activities which suited our interests. All in all, when it was finally time to pack the bags, I was confident about the plans and felt completely relaxed.
EXPLORING ICELAND
I had kept this honeymoon trip a surprise, and seeing my husband’s reaction when I told him about it was priceless. Our excitement was through the roof as we landed at Keflavik, and, from here, it only got better.
Just like the reviews of Thrillophilia had mentioned, the team was ready to help us right after we landed. After the chaos that had been our wedding week, we simply relaxed on the first day. Once we settled in, we decided to walk around the city and just admire its beauty.
The real trip began on the second day when we went on a day trip to the Iceland Golden Circle. Be it the Thingvellir National Park, Gullfoss Waterfall, or the Geysir, the beauty was simply unparalleled.
If the first two days were full of admiring Reykjavik and Iceland’s natural beauty, the third day took us to the waters. The whale-watching experience was a Thrillophilia recommendation, and it truly was among our favorite experiences. We spotted humpbacks and minke whales as we sailed on the Atlantic. The whales were majestic, as were the views. The coastline, the mountains, the cool sea breeze, it was nothing short of magical. We spent the evening at a romantic restaurant, a special request from me that the team had accommodated.
The fourth day took us to Akureyri, the second destination on our itinerary. If the views from the flight to Akureyri were stunning, it only got better once we landed. The city is just so pretty and we had so much time to explore it by ourselves. We tried so many local dishes, went to the Akureyri Botanical Garden, and spent the evening walking around the Old Town.
The next day was booked up for the Diamond Circle tour, and oh my God! Words don’t do justice to how magnificent the views were. The tour covered the Dettifoss Waterfall, Jokulsarlon Glacier Lagoon, Lake Myvatn, and the Godafoss Waterfall. We also saw the Namaskaro Geothermal Area, Asbyrgi Canyon, and Husavik. After such an amazing experience, my only suggestion is that if you are in Iceland, you cannot miss the Diamond Circle.
Then came our final day in Iceland, and we spent it in Akureyri. Since we had loved walking around here the first day, we did just that, again! We shopped, we dined, we went to landmarks like the St Peter’s Catholic Church and the Akureyri Art Museum. We had done such things in so many places before, but doing it as husband and wife meant so much more. Iceland gets the credit too, because of all the places we had ever visited, none matched the sheer natural beauty here.
We didn’t want to leave so soon, but real life was calling us back. Sitting at the airport and munching on the snacks I had bought from a local café, I felt grateful to Thrillophilia. They had helped me plan such an amazing trip with no extra stress and covered every single detail. Not for a moment did we feel a hitch in the plans. The package was also perfect for us because we wanted to have fun and relax together. And as it goes, my husband is already making plans for a winter visit to see the Northern Lights!
