InterContinental Montelucia Opens in Arizona's Paradise Valley
The InterContinental Montelucia Resort & Spa in Paradise Valley, Arizona, a residential enclave of Scottsdale, has opened. The 34-acre resort includes 253 guest rooms and 40 suites, including two presidential suites, as well as 34 detached, single-family villas, six restaurants, a private wedding chapel, a 31,000-square-foot spa and salon, five pools and more than 27,000 square feet of meeting and event space. The hotel's design reflects European influences. Its suites, including the Andalusian and Camelback suites, offer 3,000 square feet of indoor living space, in addition to a private event lawn and pool. Each guestroom features a flat-screen television, high-speed Internet access, a minibar, a custom feather bed, a large working area, and a large, tiled bathroom with an oversized sunken bathtub and a large walk-in shower with a dual showerhead.

Joya Spa is a Moroccan-inspired, 31,000-square-foot facility with 5,200 square feet of outdoor space. The spa houses 19 treatment rooms, including five oversized treatment suites with terraces, king-size daybeds, dual treatment tables, fireplaces, flat-screen televisions, outdoor and indoor showers, in-suite bathrooms with sunken tubs and direct poolside access. Joya Spa is the first in Arizona to offer a Hammam and Hammam-inspired therapies and treatments. Joya Spa also features Joya Salon, Joya Bazaar boutique, quiet and active lounges, a 24-hour fitness center, a juice bar and Joya Terrace restaurant at Joya's rooftop pool and poolside cabanas.

Food and beverage facilities include Prado with wood-fired grilling and Mbar; the Kasbah Poolside Bar; the Rum Bar; and the poolside Oasis Pavilion, featuring handmade empanadas. In addition, Joya Spa Terrace & Juice Bar offers fresh and healthful salads, as well as more indulgent fare; and Crave Café offers Lavazza coffee, gelato, chocolate, wine and other treats. The private wedding chapel, Castillo Lucena, accommodates 10 to more than 1,000 guests adjacent to wedding courtyards gardens. And the resort offers more than 27,000 square feet of flexible meeting and event space, including the 9,216-square-foot Grand Andalusian Ballroom.
