InterContinental San Diego Set to Open September 2018

InterContinental San Diego will redefine the San Diego waterfront and usher in a wave of sophistication to the downtown area, when it begins welcoming guests upon opening its doors this September. With a pristine coastal location looking out to the San Diego Bay, five distinctive on-property dining outlets, 95,000 square feet of meeting space, and impeccable service synonymous of the InterContinental brand, InterContinental San Diego is poised to be the new luxurious, urban retreat and social epicenter of downtown.

The 400-room property will exude both the vivacity of downtown San Diego’s most vibrant neighborhoods and the soothing embrace of the surrounding bay. The hotel’s floor-to-ceiling windows present throughout the guest rooms, meeting spaces and public areas seek to bring the outdoors in, maximizing the glistening waterfront views and illumination of the Southern California sun. Located on the historic grounds of Lane Field – the former baseball stadium of the San Diego Padres from 1936 through 1957 – the hotel is steps away from the Embarcadero, which docks both the famed USS Midway and Maritime Museum of San Diego. Just minutes away are downtown’s hot spots, including Little Italy, the San Diego Convention Center, Gaslamp Quarter, Seaport Village, and more.

InterContinental San Diego will feature five distinct dining venues overlooking the water, including Del Frisco’s Double Eagle Steakhouse, a signature lobby-level restaurant with an open kitchen, 19th floor rooftop bar, pool bar, and café. The expansive 4th floor rooftop pool and sun deck allow unobstructed bay and sunset vistas, with plenty of space for lounging and soaking them in. The expansive health and wellness center overlooking the bay is equipped with a personalized video wall and stunning outdoor yoga terrace. Guests can live the InterContinental life at the exclusive, lobby-level Club InterContinental lounge, where they can enjoy a private haven of unprecedented luxury complete with complimentary beverages, a private outdoor terrace and utterly personalized service.

400 elegant accommodations – inclusive of 24 spacious panoramic suites – showcase water views from every guestroom. Meeting and event space is abundant, offering 35,000 square feet of flexible indoor space with natural light in every room, and 60,000 square feet of outdoor space including multiple bay view terraces overlooking historic Lane Field Park. The brilliantly cosmopolitan Pacific Ballroom can host events up to 1,500 in the grand 12,000-square-foot space with full length windows framing iconic Santa Fe Depot and the downtown cityscape.

Expanding their footprint into San Diego, the world’s first international luxury hotel brand – InterContinental Hotels & Resorts – will be growing its Southern California presence, where they currently operate the recently opened InterContinental Los Angeles, Downtown and InterContinental Los Angeles, Century City.
