Interview with the General Manager of Post Ranch Inn, Big Sur

Interview with the General Manager of Post Ranch Inn, Big Sur
What is unique about your hotel's location?

The resort's organic architecture embraces the dramatic beauty of the Big Sur coastline. Created with bio-structure architecture using natural materials of glass, wood and stone, the design was intended so onlookers feel a part of nature, not just observers of it. Every environmental aspect was carefully considered; the earth-sheltered guesthouses capture passive heating and cooling, and the stilted tree houses protect the fragile root balls of the ancient redwood trees.

Sierra Mar Restaurant serves world-class cuisine in an awe-inspiring setting. The architecture is in service to nature, drawing the eye to the ocean through floor-to-ceiling glass walls which showcase the ever changing panoramic scenery and the horizon's meeting of sea and sky. At dinner, after the sun sets, the perspective changes from the vast glory of the California coast to an intimate dining experience with sparkling reflections from wine glasses, flickering candlelight and beautifully set tables.

What authentic local experiences will guests have access to?

Big Sur, because it is an isolated wilderness area, has its own culture. Our guests enjoy interacting with the artistic and creative environment that is authentic and real both within and without the hotel.
