Amongst Mie Prefecture’s towering trees and roaring waterfalls, Nordisk Hygge Circles is set to open this coming spring. The luxury campground was designed by the Danish architecture team Third Nature in a joint bid with Japanese engineers, which won a regenerative tourism competition launched by the Danish outdoor gear company Nordisk. The site will consist of three main areas: a rest area with reservable circular cabins and glamping tents; a “learning field” for nature-inspired excursions and workshops; and an area where guests can pitch their own tents. Roka - Kagawa Prefecture - Opening April 2022
Opening in time for one of the largest art events in Japan, the Setouchi Triennale, Roka is a full-scale ryokan with private open-air baths in all 11 of its suites.
