Jumby Bay Island Relaunches Sailing Academy this Season

Following the highly anticipated reopening of Jumby Bay Island on November 7, 2020, the ‘crown jewel of Caribbean resorts’ is welcoming back guests with a series of immersive experiences for the ultimate long-stay retreat guaranteed to banish any 2020 blues, including the Jumby Bay Sailing Academy, relaunched for the season. Promising to keep sun-seeking travelers wishing to take on a new challenge suitably stimulated, the Sailing Academy offers course scheduling customizable for the duration of your stay, creating a full immersion into the island’s nautical culture.

Located just off the coast of Antigua, a destination famous for its trade winds and for playing host to the Caribbean’s longest running regatta, Jumby Bay Island is a 300-acre private isle that combines the best of both worlds; ultimate relaxation and exhilaration. Ringed by colorful coral reefs and reached only by boat with not a car in sight, the island comprises three stunning white-powdered beaches and countless winding bicycle paths, to create a one-of-a-kind hideaway known, quite simply, as the finest resort in the Caribbean. With 14 spacious and stylish Private Villas and 22 exquisite ultra-luxe Private Residences available for both short lets and longer rentals, visitors can safely indulge in all there is to offer for weeks on end with as much or as little desired interaction between their party and other guests on the island.

Relaunched when the island reopened on November 7, 2020, the Jumby Bay Island Sailing Academy has been designed to teach guests the fundamentals of sailing with various courses available, tailored to all ages, from beginners looking to learn a new skill to experienced sailors honing their craft on Antigua’s famed waters. Guests are able to venture out into the crystal-clear Caribbean Sea with the Sailing Academy’s RYA-certified instructors on one of Jumby Bay’s fleet of 12 sailboats, including RS Zests, Lasers or RS Elites. The resort team can assist budding sailors with customized courses and training plans that fit seamlessly into their stay.

RECOMMENDED FIVE-DAY TRAINING COURSES:
• Includes two-four full hours of sailing per day, depending on guest desire

• The first two days begin with sailing theory

At Jumby Bay Island, Custom Sailing Adventures are also available for guests to take the sailing experience to the next level. Through Jumby Bay’s esteemed sailing partners, island residents can embrace the unique opportunity to sail a state-of-the-art yacht right from the resort’s dock. FRESHLY DESIGNED SUITES UNVEILED FOR THE WINTER 2020/21 SEASON
Brand-new for the winter 2020/21 season is the unveiling of 28 suites in collaboration with design firm Studio IDC. This returns Jumby Bay back to the same number of rooms as when the hotel originally opened in 1983, making it more exclusive than ever. President of Studio IDC, Stephanie Tyler and her team have worked with Jumby Bay over the last two decades, as well as having designed a number of the Private Residences on the island. Continuing the tradition of obscuring the boundaries of interior and exterior spaces, Todd Tyler, Senior Interior Designer led the concept of a modern curated design to create a new environment for discerning guests, with a new look for 16 Beachside Suites, 10 Pool Suites and two Estates Suites. The aim is to create a bridge from the interior-island landscape of the ponds and waterfowl sanctuary outward to the pristine ocean waters. The fresh color palette is a combination of the island’s soft blush sunsets, lush foliage and crisp cool blues, giving the refreshed suites their own identity of sanctuary and repose. Natural materials, woven textures and local botanical inspiration highlight the unforgettable moments created on the private island. Just steps away from the pristine white beaches, each accommodation is a tranquil oasis offering spectacular views of the Caribbean Sea.

REIMAGINED PRIVATE ISLAND DINING & ENTERTAINMENT
Jumby Bay Island’s all-inclusive experience has been elevated for villa and resort guests. Already renowned for its extensive and impressive luxury all-inclusive offering, with an excellent, premium inclusive wine and drinks list, all dining is now à la carte with special Jumby Bay traditions remaining, including a reimagined White Night Party on the beach, dinners at the farm and the Caribbean Dinner at the Pool Grille. Chef de Cuisine, Matthew Liddell hails from a 3 Michelin star pedigree and has a passion for ‘local,’ featuring fresh produce from Jumby Bay’s abundant farm throughout many dishes. All-inclusive dining also includes complimentary cocktails, fine wines and Taittinger Champagne, and Jumby Bay’s three dining venues are open and perfectly laid out for social distancing: The Estate House, one of the Caribbean’s finest fine-dining destinations; The Veranda, fringed by bougainvillea with the hush of the sea; the fresh and delicious Pool Grille.

SPACIOUS AND SPECTACULAR VILLAS & PRIVATE RESIDENCES
Privacy and space are in abundance with only a quarter of the island developed, the rest comprising a farm (its produce is used in the kitchens, of course), a waterfowl and turtle sanctuary and open pasture where the famous Jumby sheep roam freely. With more than half a mile of sandy shoreline on the main beach and most villas and Private Residences having their own private beaches, social distancing comes naturally at Jumby Bay Island. The Residences are dotted around the island and offer discerning travelers the utmost privacy from the main resort, without compromising access to the facilities. Each property is completely unique in style and design and comes equipped with individually exclusive features from infinity pools to private tennis courts and golf putting greens, and complete with its own dedicated team of staff. Guests staying in a Private Residence also benefit from full access to Jumby Bay Island’s amenities and services, as well as a 25% discount on food and beverage throughout the resort.
