JW Marriott El Convento Cusco Announces Renovation and Reopening

JW Marriott El Convento Cusco is pleased to announce its reopening as of October 29, 2020 aligned to the resumption of travel to Peru earlier this month. Returning guests will find each of the property’s 146 newly remodeled rooms featuring spacious interiors and luxurious amenities which embrace the culture and unique history of Peru. The location-specific design and artwork compliments the hotel’s public spaces and historic architecture as a 16th century monetary. The luxury property, located in the nation’s gateway to Machu Picchu, has also announced reimagined and expanded menus at its world class restaurants.

JW Marriott El Convento Cusco’s renovation will provide guests with a continued upscale experience rooted in luxury, comfort and cultural tradition. The property’s transformation has been inspired by the influence and beauty of the city’s heritage as the capitol of the great Inca Empire. The new design includes a handcrafted, bronze sculpture embedded into the headboards above each bed, representing the Sun God. Called Inti by the Incas, the Sun God was regarded as their supreme deity. Each hand-crafted piece acts as a focal point to the rooms’ other changes, which include mirrored accents which are not only designed in the pattern of prehistoric Incan walls but serve to expand the visual boundaries of the space and reflect the natural materials incorporated throughout. Several rooms offer spectacular views of the cloister of the San Agustin Convent as well as the central courtyard dating back to the 16th century.

In addition to day trips to Maccu Picchu, Saqsaywaman and Vinicunca Rainbow Mountain, the hotel can also coordinate historic tours of Cusco itself along with Peruvian Ceviche and Pisco Sour making lessons.

Starting October 15th, the Peruvian government has authorized the reopening of Peru’s historical sites, including Plaza de Armas, Machu Picchu, the Inca Trail and many more of which are all located in close proximity to JW Marriott El Convento Cusco. Following this announcement, the Peruvian government further authorized flights from the United States to Peru, opening up the gateway for Americans to visit the region.
