JW Marriott Hotel Tokyo is Officially Open

Set above the vibrant cityscape of Tokyo, featuring panoramic views of Tokyo Bay and the Shinagawa skyline, JW Marriott Hotel Tokyo offers a refined sanctuary in the heart of the new Takanawa Gateway City development. The property features 200 elegantly appointed guestrooms, including 28 suites, and the world’s first JW Mindful Floor, designed to promote holistic well-being. JW Marriott Tokyo delivers a sophisticated experience for business and leisure travel, with curated wellness experiences, elevated dining across seven distinct venues, inspired function spaces, and thoughtful touches that reflect Japanese aesthetics and hospitality.

TAKANAWA GATEWAY CITY

Spanning nearly 25 acres in Tokyo’s Minato Ward, Takanawa Gateway City is a major urban development project by JR East centered around the new Takanawa Gateway Station. The master plan includes offices, retail spaces, hotels, residences, and cultural facilities, creating a lively hub for work, leisure, and community activity. Thoughtful design prioritizes connectivity, with pedestrian-friendly pathways and generous green spaces woven throughout. Set for full completion in spring 2026, Takanawa Gateway City aims to harmonize Tokyo’s rich traditions with urban innovation, establishing itself as a key destination in the city’s evolving landscape.

DESIGN ROOTED IN TRANQUILITY

Envisioned by renowned New York studio Yabu Pushelberg, interiors feature calming tones, natural materials, and details that cultivate stillness and mindfulness. Occupying floors 23-30 of the strikingly modern high-rise, every element supports a journey of tranquility, inner calm, and connection to place.

From a Zen-inspired arrival sequence featuring stone elements, a water basin, and abstract Japanese artworks, to a mirrored Mount Fuji installation symbolizing timeless balance, the design is rooted in Tokyo’s cultural landscape. An elevated art program is enriched with ceramic works by Tomonari Hashimoto, Kamakura-style cloud carvings, bespoke glass installations by Lasvit, and photography by Sho Makishima. Intricate murals, including “Drunken Rabbit” in 4-0-3 and “Spring in France” at Sefino, add whimsical touches.
