Kenya's Giraffe Manor Adds New Mansion

Kenya's Giraffe Manor Adds New Mansion
The Garden Manor houses four additional rooms, two of which are connected as a family suite and has been constructed of sourced materials to match the original 1930s structure.

The Garden Manor is a free standing building located adjacent to the original Manor and completes the traditional, English-style courtyard where guests can enjoy lunch alongside the friendly and inquisitive giraffe who roam the grounds. In addition to the interaction with the endangered Rothschild giraffe, the Manor prides itself on personalized service, extraordinary accommodations and make-yourself-at-home comfort. The expansion will allow more guests to experience this special place, increasing from six to ten rooms, while keeping the same intimate feeling. The Garden Manor was built with its own sitting and dining rooms to preserve this ambiance.

Both the Garden Manor and the original building boast stylish and sophisticated interiors in keeping with the property's rich history. What is now Giraffe Manor was first build by Sir David Duncan, of the Macintosh Toffee family, in the 1930s and was in turn bought by Jock and Betty Leslie Melville nearly 40 years later. It was Betty who adopted the first giraffes and began the conservation and breeding program which enjoys so much success today. Giraffe Manor is located in the suburbs of Nairobi, near the historic home of Out of Africa author, Karen Blixen and nearby to Nairobi National Park.

Giraffe Manor is a part of The Safari Collection, a portfolio of five exceptional Kenyan properties offering a wide variety of experiences. Sasaab Lodge is located in the arid Samburu region while Sala's and Leleshwa Camps provide ideal access to the famed Masai Mara. Solio Lodge is the newest property and boasts stunning views of Mount Kenya along with the largest private rhinoceros breeding reserve.
