La Tiara di Cervo Debuts in Porto Cervo, Sardinia’s Costa Smeralda

Opening in May 2026, La Tiara di Cervo arrives in Porto Cervo as something the Costa Smeralda has not seen before. Set high above the marina and nestled into a granite hillside, La Tiara di Cervo unfolds across three and a half hectares of Mediterranean Parkland, with 26 Grand Suites, each oriented towards the shifting horizon.

Conceived and deeply desired by Alfonso Dolce, La Tiara di Cervo is first and foremost the expression of a personal reading of Sardinia, shaped over years spent close to beauty and a distinctly refined way of living. It stems from a clear intuition: that Porto Cervo is ready for a new proposition — one defined by privacy, quiet and a stronger connection to the landscape.

To give that intuition its fullest form, Alfonso Dolce chose to develop the project with Aldo Melpignano, the hotelier behind Borgo Egnazia, whose place-led approach has helped redefine contemporary Italian hospitality. Their collaboration brings together two sensibilities that are distinct yet naturally aligned: Alfonso Dolce’s personal vision and Aldo Melpignano’s way of shaping places that feel deeply rooted, coherent and alive.

Architecture by GianMaria Torno’s TornoTeam is defined by restraint, materiality and total integration with the land, guided by Alfonso Dolce’s original intent to create something deeply rooted in its landscape and entirely at ease within it.

“In my vision, at la Tiara, true luxury lives where the wild is untouched and the world falls silent. We dreamt of this retreat not to impress but to disappear into nature, into privacy, into a hospitality that whispers rather than shouts and into an uncompromising luxury that reveals itself only to those who truly seek it.” – Alfonso Dolce

"What drew us to La Tiara was not just its beauty, but its sincerity. Alfonso created something deeply personal – an expression of Sardinia that feels lived, not designed. Our role is simply to honour that, and to allow guests to experience it in a way that feels natural and entirely their own.” – Aldo Melpignano

Once the epicentre of 1970s jet-set glamour, Porto Cervo has moved through cycles of excess and reinvention – and is now entering a more private, considered chapter, with La Tiara di Cervo arriving at precisely the right moment to reclaim its position as one of the Mediterranean’s most compelling enclaves.

PRIVATE COASTAL LIVING

Defined by an understated approach to hospitality, La Tiara’s 26 Grand Suites introduce a rare way of living in Porto Cervo — spacious, private, and quietly refined. Ranging from one to three bedrooms, they offer generous living areas, sea-facing terraces, and a sense of domestic ease. Thoughtfully appointed and fully equipped, each Grand Suite is stocked with produce from local Sardinian makers and shaped around a rhythm that feels instinctive, personal, and unforced. Beneath this, a five-star infrastructure runs quietly: twice-daily housekeeping, in-suite breakfast, a dedicated Local Adviser, and a private chef available on request. At the summit of the estate, the Penthouse brings this vision to its fullest expression: 715 sqm of indoor and outdoor living space, with a panoramic rooftop, outdoor kitchen, solarium and hot tub commanding the widest view over Porto Cervo. The experience throughout is intentionally intimate and curated rather than transactional — intuitive, discreet and entirely personal. It reflects a value shared by Alfonso Dolce and Aldo Melpignano alike: hospitality not as display, but as space, privacy and a deeply individual sense of ease.

DESIGN THAT DEFINES

La Tiara does not impose upon its landscape, it continues it. The hotel is organised into four distinct clusters – Emerald, Citrine, Aquamarine and Paraiba – each echoing the colours of the island’s natural world. At its centre, two panoramic infinity pools emerge from the mountainside, suspended between rock and sea. Local stone, reclaimed wood and antique tiles root the project firmly in Sardinia, while cascading terraces, private gardens and wide openings dissolve the boundary between interior and exterior.

LIFE AT LA TIARA

Life at La Tiara is structured around a simple premise: privacy without compromise. Days move seamlessly between indoor and outdoor living, beginning, for some, with a yoga session in the natural park among junipers and morning light, or slowly, looking out over the panoramic pools. The fitness area, pools and a dedicated space for children allow every guest to shape the stay as they wish. In-residence wellness treatments are arranged with ease through the Local Advisers. At the poolside bar, light meals and refreshments are available from breakfast through to evening. For a more immersive encounter with Sardinian culinary culture, guests are connected by courtesy transfer to Lu Pisantinu — a Porto Cervo institution for over four decades, where the island's heritage is reinterpreted with a contemporary sensibility. The sea becomes part of daily life: reserved positions at Cala Granu, a short transfer from the estate, offer guests direct access to some of the clearest water on the Costa Smeralda. From there, the possibilities extend further — private sailing at sunset, snorkelling the archipelago's waters, curated excursions along one of the Mediterranean's most compelling stretches of coastline. A courtesy car connects guests to Porto Cervo for everything else.

GETTING HERE

Porto Cervo sits on Sardinia’s north-east coast, at the heart of the Costa Smeralda – long favoured by discerning travellers and now more accessible than ever. This summer, Olbia Costa Smeralda Airport is connected to the main Italian and European destinations with direct flights, alongside a new seasonal Delta Air Lines nonstop from New York JFK to Olbia, marking the first direct connection between Sardinia and the United States. La Tiara is just 35 minutes from the airport. Guests arriving by private aviation will find a helipad within one kilometre of the property, while those arriving by yacht have Porto Cervo Marina directly below the hotel.
