Las Terrazas Resort Belize Introduces Family Scuba Dive Program
Las Terrazas, a premier luxury resort in Belize, unveiled their new Learn to Dive as a Family Program this week. Having a close partnership with a 5-star PADI Dive Center has long been a draw for Las Terrazas, a resort located on the white sand beaches of Belize – home to the northern hemisphere's largest underwater barrier reef. Las Terrazas Resort is conveniently situated on the island of Ambergris Caye, one of Belize’s top tourist and scuba diving destinations.

New and experienced divers continue to select Las Terrazas Belize Resort as their top scuba diving resort destination because it has consistently proven to be the perfect place for combining world-class scuba diving and relaxation. But now, this experience will become even more accessible to families - even families without any previous scuba diving experience!

In recent years, perhaps fueled by the fledgling economy or growing 'green' movement, eco-adventures have been skyrocketing in popularity. Hiking, climbing, kayaking, biking and scuba diving have become staples of family vacations and weekend trips. For this reason, the new Learn to Dive Family Adventure Program could not have been launched at a more opportune time.

Even with no experience, Las Terrazas' new scuba diving program will let children 10 and up become Open Water Certified right alongside their parents. Where else can parents and their children learn, explore and scuba dive together under expert guidance and in a relaxing and exotic location? The faint of heart will quickly discover that scuba isn't a "scary" activity at all - but in fact much more akin to hiking underwater. Las Terrazas’ family adventure program will utilize the world-renowned PADI Open Water Dive Course and facilitate an activity that will create future family adventures and memories for decades.

The PADI Open Water Dive Course is the world’s most popular dive course and has introduced millions of people to the wondrous world beneath the waves. PADI certification is recognized and accepted all over the world and as a PADI certified diver, you carry the most respected and sought after scuba credentials in the world. The PADI Open Water Dive Course consists of three main segments: classroom - to understand the basic principles of scuba diving; confined water dives - to learn basic scuba skills in the resort pool; open water dives - to review your skills and explore.

"It's not meant to be physically taxing or 'extreme' in any sense of the word," explains Master Diver Elbert Greer of the partnering White Sands Dive shop "it's an opportunity to observe coral reefs, fish and an entire underwater world most people never get to see. Once people move past their initial reservations, believe me, they're hooked for life."

Carolyn Stone, Director of Sales for Las Terrazas Resort agreed and added, "We have received numerous compliments on the exceptional level of expertise and service provided by the staff at White Sands Dive Shop. Their PADI Five Star rating further confirms the high quality and personalized attention by Elbert Greer and his team and positions us as one of the few 5-star dive resorts in Belize. Of course having a luxury resort less than a mile from an underwater explosion of color, almost 400 species of fish and coral, and some of the best scuba diving in the world doesn’t hurt either."

All of the scuba courses in the Learn to Dive as a Family Program are designed to allow patrons to learn about scuba at a safe and accessible pace and create a once in a lifetime Belize dive vacation. The instructors start with the absolute basics: how to put on a mask and fins, how to enter the water, even reminding you the correct way to breath. By the time you head out to the ocean to try your first dive, children and parents alike will be more than ready to explore the underwater wonders that grace the Belize reefs.
