L'Atelier de Joël Robuchon Opening in NYC Spring 2015
Located at 250 Vesey Street (just west of the West Side Highway), the highly anticipated restaurant will be set in the world class dining and luxury shopping destination in the former World Financial Center. The new space, offering spectacular views of the Hudson River and The Statue of Liberty, is right in the heart of the city’s financial district, across from the World Trade Center, and just steps away from Tribeca. Along with the fine dining room, L’Atelier de Joël Robuchon will also include a more casual bar and lounge area and waterside outdoor seating, where guests can drop by for cocktails, wine, beer, and small plates of food and snacks.

An iconic culinary figure, Chef Robuchon has been honored with 25 Michelin stars—more than any chef worldwide—including four three-star restaurants. L’Atelier, whose name refers to an artist’s studio, emphasizes Chef Robuchon’s hallmark of highly refined clockwork precision and abundant creativity to create simple, straightforward dishes prepared with the highest quality of ingredients. Dissolving the boundaries between kitchen and dining room, seats at L’Atelier de Joёl Robuchon are arranged around a counter looking directly into the kitchen, allowing a dynamic interaction between chef and diner and offering direct access to the creative process.

L’Atelier was inspired by Robuchon’s culinary experiences and travels internationally, from the Spanish tapas counter, Japanese sushi bar and French bistro counter concept. In 2003, Robuchon opened his first L’Atelier in Paris in the historic seventh arrondisement on the Boulevard Saint German Des Pres and in Tokyo in the Rappongi district. Following the restaurant’s immediate success, Robuchon expanded L’Atelier to other cities including Las Vegas in 2005 inside the MGM Grand, London at Covent Garden, Hong Kong at the Landmark in 2006, Taipei at the Bellavita Shopping Center in 2009, a second L’Atelier location in Paris in 2010 at the Place de l’Etoile on the Champs Elysees, and in Singapore at the World Resort at Sentosa in 2011. Soon to open in Bangkok at the Mahanakhon Cube. Each restaurant feels of-its-place, staying true to L’Atelier’s original Parisian roots while taking inspiration from its surrounding city and neighborhood.

As part of Brookfield Place’s $250 million renovation, L’Atelier de Joël Robuchon will join an exciting line-up of restaurant concepts, the final addition will be shops for world-class luxury houses Hermés, Salvatore Ferragamo and Ermenegildo Zegna and top fashion brands Calypso St. Barth, Theory, Michael Kors, Diane von Furstenberg and Scoop.

L’Atelier New York is a partnership between Joël Robuchon and Alex Gaudelet, founder of INVEST HOSPITALITY, who has worked with Joël Robuchon for many years at the MGM Grand, where he served as the VP of Food & Beverage and most recently was the COO of BR Guest Hospitality.
