Cheers to 30 Years: Le Guanahani Celebrates 3 Decades on St. Barth
St. Barth raised its profile as a tourism destination in the 1970's and Le Guanahani quickly caught on when it opened its doors in 1986, establishing itself as a haven of casual luxury, comfort and elegance. An authentic reflection of St. Barth, the hotel has evolved into the island's finest destination for active travelers, families, wellness-minded guests, and more, providing an unsurpassed array of leisure activities.

2016 will be celebratory year for Le Guanahani. In 2015, the resort completed its last phase of a four-year, $40 million renovation and introduced a chic and colorful look, marking a new vision for the resort-one that transports guests to a relaxed, timeless, colorful nirvana for today's contemporary traveler. To highlight the milestone, Le Guanahani has planned multiple events and will be introducing a range of new guest experiences including four themed weekends peppered throughout the year. The festivities will kick off with Le Guanahani's Wellness Weekend led by renowned yogi and meditation expert Dave Romanelli February 4-7, 2016, which is designed for those who prefer to explore meditation with their toes in the sand, a glass of wine in their hand, and chocolate on their palate. Other special weekend events will include a Fashion Weekend in May, a Family Weekend in July, and a Gastronomy Weekend in November to coincide with the third annual Taste of St. Barth Gourmet Festival.

"We are so excited to celebrate Le Guanahani's iconic history and 30th anniversary in the upcoming year. The incredible marine diversity and attractions of St. Barth have been a draw for many over the last three decades, yet we're still proud to call our gem of a resort, a quiet and relaxing escape," shared Martein van Wagenberg, Managing Director for Le Guanahani. "We're looking forward to welcoming our guests in 2016 to join the festivities we are planning to commemorate this milestone."

Visit Le Guanahani in 2016 to join the 30th anniversary celebrations and become a part of Le Guanahani's history. Guests will be able to enjoy screenings of 1986 movies on the beach from Top Gun to Ferris Bueller's Day Off; exquisite culinary offerings from Executive Chef Nicola De Marchi; island explorations with Le Guanahani's signature Mini Coopers; engaging family activities through the property's comprehensive Children's Program; sea excursions with Le Guanahani's own fisherman to catch fish and have it cooked later; rejuvenating spa treatments in the onsite and Zen-inducing Spa by Clarins; Orahe wellness programming encompassing beauty, fitness and culinary experiences; and even morning swims with Managing Director, Martein van Wagenberg. The destination will also be hosting exciting events in 2016 including the St. Barth Music Festival January 12-24, which has been an annual celebration of classical, opera, ballet, and jazz music since 1985.

Le Guanahani's mystical setting is an integral part of the resort's heritage and history, as it continues to inspire awe in the many visitors it continues to welcome. Over the last three decades, Le Guanahani has hosted notable figures and celebrities, yet its exclusive and sprawling layout with private, "Explorer Style" cottages dotting the lush peninsula, provides all guests with the luxury of anonymity and opportunity to fully unwind.

Le Guanahani continues to underscore its commitment to the environment as it nears Green Globe certification in 2016 another significant turning point for the property. Located within the protected reserves of Grand Cul-de-Sac, Marigot Bay and Maréchal Beach three of the five zones that comprise the island's 2,500-acre Réserve Naturelle marine park Le Guanahani offers access to two beaches, vibrant marine life, and various ways through which guests can explore both. From snorkeling and paddle-boarding to kayaking and swimming, one can experience the vivid hues of blue and green and observe Nurse Sharks, schools of Blue Tang, Elkhorn Coral, conch, lobster, reef squid and sea turtles.
