The Leading Hotels of the World, Ltd, a collection of independent, luxury hotels, has announced its highly anticipated new builds and recently renovated member hotels making their debut in 2019.
This year, Leading Hotels is slated to introduce more than 20 outstanding new builds located around the globe. Post-renovation reopenings will also be prevalent, with six properties recently opening their doors for curious travelers to enjoy in 2019 and seven scheduled to reopen and welcome guests this year.
• BLESS Hotel Madrid (Madrid, Spain) – Opening January 2019 (pictured)
Located in the Salamanca district, BLESS Hotel Madrid stands out for its unique style and timeless design within the most exclusive neighborhood in the center of the city. The property’s modern design is equipped with the most advanced technology and features 111 rooms and suites.
• The PuXuan Hotel and Spa (Beijing, China) – Opening February 2019
Minutes from the Forbidden City, The PuXuan Hotel and Spa reflects a guest-centric culture of Hostmanship™. The property’s 116 rooms, world class dining venues and signature UR SPA connect guests to an authentic local experience in an urban resort setting.
• Britannia Hotel (Trondheim, Norway) – Opening April 2019
Built in 1870, Norway's Britannia Hotel will embark on a new phase when it reopens following a three-year, $150 million refurbishment. The 257-room property and spa will be refreshed with essential 21st century enhancements, including six F&B concepts, one of which will be led by world champion chef and Bocuse d´Or silver winner, Christopher Davidsen.
• Ikador Luxury Boutique Hotel & Spa (Opatija, Croatia) – Opening April 2019
Located near the coastal town of Opatija with views of the Riviera, the intimate Ikador Hotel will welcome guests to 14 luxuriously appointed rooms and suites. This exclusive property will also feature the Nobilion restaurant, a spa, private beach, heated outdoor pool, and only the fourth Riva Lounge in the world.
• Nobu Hotel Los Cabos (Los Cabos, Mexico) – Opening April 2019
Nobu Hotel Los Cabos features 200 rooms and suites that seamlessly blend contemporary Japanese minimalism with locally-sourced, Mexican materials and finishes, making it the perfect fusion of architectural elegance and laid-back luxury. It is the first property in Mexico from the dining and hospitality empire helmed by Robert De Niro and Chef Nobu Matsuhisa.
• The Houghton (Johannesburg, South Africa) – Opening April 2019
Defining lifestyle and resort living, The Houghton is centrally located near all business districts in Johannesburg. With a Signature Jack Nicklaus Golf course on 168 acres of parkland, a spa and wellness center, two-level gym with state-of-the-art equipment, indoor and outdoor heated pools, an international deli, sky bar and personalized cuisine restaurant, the hotel will be a true landmark.
• Mr. C Coconut Grove (Coconut Grove, FL, USA) – Opening Spring 2019
An oasis within bustling South Florida, Mr. C Coconut Grove will feature 100 rooms and suites with private terraces, a new Italian dining concept and rooftop Bellini Restaurant and Bar. It will provide guests with the attentive and celebrated European service synonymous with the Cipriani family.
• ĀNANTI Resort, Residences & Beach Club (Rezevici, Budva) – Opening June 2019
Perched on a hillside overlooking the Adriatic, the resort is a bright newcomer to the Montenegro coast. The hotel is comprised of 8 villas and 14 suites and complete with an exclusive beach, signature Asian-fusion restaurant and kids club. The property will open a fully-equipped fitness center and SPA in 2020.
• Baglioni Resort Maldives (Maagau, Maldives) – Opening June 2019
Located on the island of Maagau in the Dhaalu Atoll, this exclusive resort offers a bespoke stay in the heart of the Indian Ocean. The property features 96 rooms and villas, a relaxing Baglioni Spa, a sporting activity every day, and four gourmet eateries to satisfy the epicure.
• BLESS Hotel Ibiza (Ibiza, Spain) – Opening June 2019
BLESS Hotel Ibiza is situated on Es Canar’s Cala Nova cove. The 151-room property, with views of the Mediterranean Sea, presents unique experiences and services in a paradise complete with hidden coves, hundred-year-old pine forests, and enchanting villages.
• Emerald Maldives Resort & Spa (Raa Atoll, Maldives) - Opening June 2019
Amid crystalline blue waters in the middle of the Indian Ocean and surrounded by pristine white beach, Emerald Maldives Resort & Spa offers a collection of 120 private beach and overwater villas. The resort’s four restaurants, as well as the Emerald Spa, diving center, and sports facility invite guests to relax and recharge in full indulgence.
• J.K. Place Paris (Paris, France) – Opening June 2019
The intimate 30-room J.K. Place Paris will be the J.K. Place brand’s first venture outside of Italy. • Katikies Garden (Santorini, Greece) – Opening June 2019
Katikies Garden provides an authentic Santorinian experience. The rooms are outfitted with a sophisticated design complete with private pools, gardens, and verandas. Guests can also enjoy an underground cave wine cellar, rooftop pool, the De Paul Restaurant, and renowned A. Spa.
• Lily of the Valley (Gigaro Beach, La Croix Valmer, South of France) – Opening June 2019
Set on coastline of Saint-Tropez, Lily of the Valley will welcome guests to a year-round wellness sanctuary. Complete with 44 rooms and suites and one prestigious villa, the Philippe Starck-designed property features everything from a private beach to personalized wellness programs.
• Savoy Palace (Funchal, Portugal) – Opening June 2019
The Savoy Palace offers a modern take on island hospitality. Designed by an award-winning team, the bold, curved structure is home to 306 chic rooms and 43 suites, some with plunge pool and all featuring balconies to take in the ocean views.

Tokyo's 1960's icon was partially demolished in 2015 and will reopen with two new towers – The Okura Heritage Wing and The Okura Prestige Tower. Following the $979 million renovation, the property will debut 508 rooms, 18 stories of office space and more, adding to its celebrated grandeur.

• Hotel Continental (Oslo, Norway) – Renovation completed December 2018
In 2018, Hotel Continental underwent the largest renovation in the property’s history introducing a new reception, lobby lounge, BAR BOMAN, and 58 luxurious rooms and suites. The rooms now boast a classic contemporary style and the property features a new two floor, 240 square meter suite.

• The Biltmore Miami Coral Gables (Coral Gables, Florida, USA) – Renovation completed December 2018
The storied Biltmore Miami Coral Gables recently debuted a $30 million renovation and redesign of the hotel’s luxurious accommodations, lobby and corridors. The project also included the restoration of its 18-hole golf course to the original grandeur of the 1925 Donald Ross-designed layout.
• The Datai Langkawi (Langkawi, Malaysia) – Renovation completed December 2018
Following a 10-month, $60 million renovation, The Datai Langkawi has unveiled its most substantial enhancement since its inception 25 years ago. The widespread project included refurbished interiors and exteriors, a new nature center, additional spa pavilions and a fitness center by the beach.
• Grand Hotel Barrière Dinard (Dinard, France) – Reopening April 2019
Overlooking the Baie de la Vicomté and the sparkling emerald sea, the property will be treated to a complete makeover by interior designer Alexandre Danan. The project will re-interpret the identity of the Grand Hotel, returning it to its elegant splendor.
• One Aldwych (London, England) – Reopening April 2019
Following an extensive refurbishment, One Aldwych in Covent Garden will have fresh, sophisticated interiors and upgraded technology in all 102 rooms, including four new suites. The hotel reception, iconic Lobby Bar, and Indigo restaurant will also have an exciting new look.
• Bairro Alto Hotel (Lisbon, Portugal) – Reopening May 2019
In February 2016, Bairro Alto began an extension project which included the renovation and addition of the adjacent 18th-century building to add 33 rooms and suites. The new area also includes an innovative concept restaurant, four state-of-the-art meeting spaces, and an indulgent wellness area.
• San Ysidro Ranch (Montecito, California, USA) – Reopening May 2019
Following a year of restorations after the Southern California mudslides, the iconic San Ysidro Ranch will be welcoming guests back in May 2019. This tranquil oasis features intimate cottages, 17 miles of hiking trails, and The Stonehouse, a restaurant highlighting herbs and vegetables harvested from the on-site chef's garden.
• Grand Hotel Quellenhof, within Grand Resort Bad Ragaz (Bad Ragaz, Switzerland) – Reopening July 2019
This year, Grand Hotel Quellenhof, one of three exclusive hotels within Grand Resort Bad Ragaz, will be celebrating its 150th anniversary with a $45 million renovation. Swiss star architect Claudio Carbone will combine historic elements with a classically elegant yet contemporary design. Two new restaurants by Top Chef Sven Wassmer will turn the resort into Switzerland’s culinary hotspot.
• Le Guanahani (St. Barthelemy) – Reopening October 2019
Blending the resort’s newest features with Le Guanahani’s trademark service, the reopening following Hurricane Irma will unveil enhancements including new beachfront suites, a spectacular beach area featuring an ion-cleansed infinity pool, and a dynamic restaurant with sweeping views.
• Nobu Hotel Epiphany Palo Alto (Palo Alto, California, USA) – Phased renovation, completing in January 2020
Currently undergoing a multi-million-dollar phased renovation, Nobu Hotel Epiphany Palo Alto is slated to unveil the completely new hotel early 2020. The property will feature new two-story Nobu restaurant and a noteworthy 24-hour in-room Nobu dining menu.
