Leading Hotels of the World Welcomes 7 New Members

The Leading Hotels of the World, Ltd. (LHW) has welcomed seven new members to its collection of 400+ independent, luxury hotels.

The Autumn Collection represents a notable entrance into new markets for LHW such as Jakarta, Zanzibar and Menorca, as well as increased visibility in perennially popular destinations such as Italy, Israel and Costa Rica.

  • Designer Den with Destination Dining: The Orient Jakarta (Jakarta, Indonesia): This opulent city hideaway opened in October 2021 incorporating décor inspired by Balinese and Javanese heritage. Bangkok designer Bill Bensley blends Eastern traditions with modern motifs at this eclectic 72-room city escape.
  • Cultural Seaside Villa: Villa Mara Carmel (Carmel-by-the-sea, CA, USA): 16-room Villa Mara offers an intimate experience with plenty of comfort and sophistication. Its recent 2022 extensive renovation by designer Lisa Koch promises thoughtful curation, natural tones and original art.
  • Seafront City Jewel: Dan Tel Aviv (Tel Aviv, Israel): Overlooking the famous seafront promenade, the Dan Tel Aviv embodies the vibrant energy of Israel’s Mediterranean coast. The original hotel dates back to June 1947, when two brothers purchased the ‘Kaete Dan’ as a 21-room guest house. Now it is an entertaining and elegant hotel that offers contemporary design with a chic atmosphere.
  • Serene New Beach Resort: Emerald Zanzibar Resort & Spa (Zanzibar, Tanzania) – opens December 2022: This expansive new 250-room, all-inclusive resort preserves and pays homage to the destination's natural and cultural heritage while pampering guests with the comforts of modern living. The contemporary retreat offers private waterfront access to the destination's flourishing reefs and marine conservation areas.
  • Legendary Lakeside Palace: The Lido Palace (Lake Garda, Italy): Set in leafy gardens on Lake Garda, The Lido Palace first opened in 1899 to rival the best hotels in Europe. After an exacting refurbishment, the grand, Belle Époque style was brought back to life. The 42-room hotel offers a discrete sense of luxury.
  • Eco-Resort in a Tropical Wonderland: Nayara Gardens (La Fortuna, Costa Rica): In north-western Costa Rica, facing the conical silhouette of the famous Arenal Volcano, is the tropical wonderland of Nayara Gardens, a fabulous eco-resort.
