Leela Palace to Open New Sea-facing Palace Hotel in India
The hotel has been designed by US-based architectural practice Stewart & Associates Incorporated and is located at Adyar Seaface area of Chennai. Sprawling over six verdant acres, overlooking the Bay of Bengal, The Leela Palace Chennai will be a 11-storied hotel that will offer 326-rooms.

The architecture of the hotel will celebrate the architectural opulence of the Chettinad dynasty. The hotel's design will hint of inspiration from Chettinad Palace. It will feature state-of-the-art facilities, finest dining concepts and a dazzling collection of renowned contemporary art and artisan craft.

The hotel will feature an award-wining spa, an ultra-modern fitness retreat and a 25-metre swimming pool. The lavishly appointed guestrooms are the largest in Chennai and are equipped with the most advanced digital and technology services, such as 42-inch Sony LCD TVs, Bose sound systems, iPod docks and high speed Wi-Fi internet access. Each floor is intelligently designed to accommodate rapid advances in technology.

The Palace will include a roof-top Italian restaurant, which will offer 180 degree views of the sea. Spectra, the lobby-level all-day dining restaurant, will have five live kitchens serving continental food. The hotel will also feature the brand's signature restaurant, Jamavar, which will serve the finest Indian cuisine; while China Tang will offer authentic Asian and traditional Chinese. China Tang has been designed by Studio Spin in Japan and will include both indoor space as well as an al fresco terrace. The Cake Shop of the hotel will offer a gourmet continental bakery selection.

The hotel will offer 36,000 square feet of multi-purpose meeting and conference space, featuring floor-to-ceiling windows and loaded with latest technologies. The Leela will also have two palatial ballrooms. The larger of the two, the Grand Ballroom, will have an area of 15,000 square feet while the Royal Ballroom will have an area of 9,120 square feet. In addition, the hotel will also have two meeting rooms and seven boardrooms.

The hotel's spa will be an ESPA London-branded spa and will occupy an area of 14,000 square feet. The spa will have 12 private treatment rooms, of which three will be sea facing. The fitness studio of the hotel will be a 2,500 square-feet facility, which will be complete with the latest TechnoGym equipment and a 25-metre lap swimming pool.
