While many visitors flock to the Lake District for its spectacular walking opportunities, less well known is the fact that Cumbria is home to almost 40 golf courses nestled amid some of the most beautiful scenery in England. Founded in 1891, the layout has an excellent pedigree having been designed by George Lowe who – at the time – was the professional at the celebrated Royal Lytham & St Annes, a course he also created.
