Third Annual Los Cabos International Film Festival Launches with Star-Studded Opening Ceremony
Reese Witherspoon introduced the Latin American Premiere of Wild, the festival's opening film and the latest from Dallas Buyers Club director, Jean-Marc Vallée. The late critic Roger Ebert, whose biopic Life Itself will make its Latin American debut at the festival later this week, was a posthumous tribute. Ebert's widow Chaz Ebert accepted the honor on his behalf.

Festival Director Alonso Aguilar-Castillo introduced the festival, which marks the unofficial reopening of the destination following Hurricane Odile, which caused widespread damage to Los Cabos when it hit this September. Through Sunday, November 16, the festival will also feature the premiers of Mommy, Words With Gods, and the much-anticipated Boyhood. Other celebrities expected to attend the festival include Rosario Dawson and Patricia Arquette.

Additionally, for the second year in a row, the Gabriel Figueroa Film Fund (GFFF) selected seven Mexican feature films, fiction or documentary in the development stage and supported them with a grant of $5,000 each. Two others in the post-production stage received $52,000 each in Labodigital services. The Gabriel Figueroa Fund, named after one of the greatest filmmakers of Mexico, a cinematographer from the Golden Age of Mexican Cinema, is proud to partner for the 2nd consecutive year with the Los Cabos International Film Festival to support filmmakers in the early stages of film development.
