Luxury Residence Living Rooms That Bring the Outside In

Now that the weather is warming up for summer, we're craving interiors that make use of their natural surroundings. The designers of the living rooms below will create a sense of calm and relaxation through using natural materials and maximizing gorgeous views--no matter the time of year.

Rock House

The minimal-yet-warm living areas at Rock House, a new residential resort in Turks and Caicos designed by AD100 Shawn Henderson, will boast limestone feature walls built from the surrounding cliffs, a muted color palette, light washed wood finishes, floor-to-ceiling windows and expansive patios that let the dramatic view of Providenciales’ crystal-clear blue waters speak for itself.

277 Fifth Avenue

At 277 Fifth Avenue, Jeffrey Beers designed warm, living room interiors with a refined palette of natural materials—including white oak floors and kitchen cabinets, Italian marble counters, and custom-designed walnut vanities. Several living rooms in 277 Fifth Avenue’s residences have floor-to-ceiling windows with corner exposures, offering residents stunning views of the East and Hudson Rivers for a greater connection to the outdoors in the Concrete Jungle.

Residence 2646 (Troon Pacific)

Residence 2646’s main living room opens via a disappearing sliding glass wall into a landscaped garden with a sunken outdoor lounge, serving as a true extension of the open, airy space. The Troon Pacific-designed residence features several floor-to-ceiling sliding-glass pocket doors that vanish entirely into the walls, creating five floors of indoor/outdoor living space. Each level boasts balconies with glass railings, extending the rooms into open air and allowing residents to connect with nature on various levels.

Overland Trail Cabin

Overland Trail Cabin’s living room boasts end-to-end, expansive sliding-glass doors, which both connects the indoor and outdoor areas, and allows ample natural daylight to permeate the interior. The second-floor deck, spanning the length of home’s main social spaces, provides the perfect setting to enjoy breathtaking mountain views year-round. Located in the world-renowned Sugar Bowl ski resort, one of the oldest in California, the home was designed by BCV Architecture + Interiors to unite the indoor and outdoor worlds, allowing residents to enjoy an immersive, back-to-nature lifestyle.

Residence 950 (Troon Pacific)

Residence 950 features a stunning living room that seamlessly integrates the indoor and outdoor worlds through the use of massive sliding-glass walls. Located in the heart of San Francisco, the Troon Pacific-designed home is a biophilic masterpiece, and residents can enjoy unobstructed Bay and city views from the living room that opens up to a private, .36-acre park-like garden with century-old olive trees, lemon trees and native flowers.
