Luxury Trend: Self-sufficient Sanctuaries for Extended Living

There is a new demand for residence-style amenities given the increase in longer trips and working remotely.

With what we've been seeing over the last few months, the microvacation is long gone with longer trips on the rise. That said, many traditional hotels are shifting their models by promoting extended stay packages, ‘work from hotel’ programming or positioning accommodations that are private, with residence-style amenities in-suite.

Larry Korman, President of AKA, a luxury global brand of serviced residences calls the new demand for these amenities, “self-sufficient sanctuaries” and what has been part of the brand’s DNA for decades -- all properties boast fully accessorized kitchens, in-suite washer and dryer and/or sophisticated laundry rooms to accommodate weekly and monthly stays.

From fully accessorized kitchens with wine cellars, to private saunas and personal pools, “home-like” amenities are on the rise and being offered worldwide.
