Mandai Rainforest Resort by Banyan Tree Key Highlights:
Location: Located just a short drive from the city center and nestled within the Mandai Wildlife Reserve (Singapore's integrated wildlife and nature destination), the 4.6-hectare resort provides direct access to renowned zoological parks such as Singapore Zoo, Night Safari, River Wonders, Bird Paradise and the upcoming Rainforest Wild.
Nature-Inspired and Sustainable Design: Designed with sustainability in mind by the award-winning WOW Architects, biophilic design is at the heart of Mandai Rainforest Resort by Banyan Tree, influencing everything from its architectural structure to signature programs and amenities. The 338-room resort, including 24 elevated treehouses, blends seamlessly with its natural surroundings, offering accommodations either nestled in lush greenery or overlooking the serene Upper Seletar Reservoir. Inspired by the rainforest’s natural layers—from the forest floor to the canopy—the resort’s design celebrates nature’s rich biodiversity, creating an environment that invites guests to reconnect with nature on its terms. Likewise, sustainability is woven into the fabric of the resort’s design. Structures are elevated to allow native wildlife to move freely beneath, and mature trees—such as the iconic 12-meter-tall Rain Tree and Indian Beech—were preserved in their original locations. The resort’s accommodations can be naturally ventilated to mirror the cool rainforest climate, while rainwater is harvested and repurposed for flushing, contributing to the resort’s Green Mark Platinum certification as Singapore’s first-ever Super Low Energy (SLE) resort.
Exclusive Wildlife Encounters and Programs: Guests can engage in exclusive wildlife programs such as early morning Wild Walks at Bird Paradise, where they can observe birds at their most active, or enroll children aged 6 to 10 in the Wild ZooDay Camp at Singapore Zoo. Resort guests also benefit from exclusive rates on park entry and signature wildlife programs, fostering a deeper connection to the surrounding ecosystem.
Luxurious Accommodations: Mandai Rainforest Resort by Banyan Tree features 338-rooms, including 24 elevated treehouses. Inside the rooms, the design celebrates the forest’s complexity through artwork depicting its various layers – the forest floor, understorey, canopy and emergent layers. Antique lithographs of wildlife such as the lesser mousedeer, white-collared kingfisher, Sumatran flying dragon and the grey-headed fish eagle, depict the diverse creatures native to Singapore. Designed with sustainability in mind, the rooms can be naturally ventilated with windows that fully open, and ambient room temperatures are regulated to mirror the cool atmospheric temperatures of the rainforests in the tropics. Each room is also equipped with an interactive display that shows power consumption levels and offers gentle reminders when usage exceeds recommended levels. Rainwater is also collected and repurposed for the flushing system in every room.
Banyan Tree Spa: The award-winning Banyan Tree Spa offers rejuvenating treatments in three distinctive spa pods, inspired by the Sunda pangolin’s protective keratin scales. In addition to the signature pods, three additional treatment rooms provide tranquil sanctuaries where guests can relax and unwind, reconnecting with their mind, body, and spirit.
