The best of British: Renowned Mayfair hotel offers quintessential classics in new British menu

An iconic five-star hotel in the heart of Mayfair has launched a new menu filled with traditional British dishes with a refined twist – allowing tourists visiting the city to get an authentic English dining experience.

DUKES London, one of the capital's most renowned hotels, with its bar being a regular drinking spot of James Bond author Ian Fleming – and inspired the creation of the famous ‘shaken, not stirred’ martini – has launched its ‘Classic Comforts’ lunch menu.

Featuring a selection of some of the nation's favorites, such as fish & chips with curry sauce, shepherd's pie made with braised shoulder of lamb, creamed potatoes and lamb cutlets, and treacle sponge, overseas visitors can enjoy a truly British culinary experience in the hotel’s historic drawing room.

Carefully curated by Executive Chef, Nigel Mendham, and his talented team, the new menu only serves top quality seasonal ingredients sourced entirely from local British suppliers, as the hotel seeks to offer tourists from North America and elsewhere an unrivaled English experience – both in gastronomy and hospitality.

Nigel said: “At DUKES London, we pride ourselves on being an icon of British heritage, attracting guests from all over the world. With that said, it’s our job as a kitchen team to make sure guests’ experiences are as memorable and authentic as possible. The new Classic Comforts menu boasts some of the nation's most loved dishes with an elevated twist, and we can’t wait for our American friends and other overseas visitors to enjoy the new offering.”

Located in the heart of historic St. James’s Mayfair, DUKES London is one of the city’s best known five-star hotels. A stone's throw from Buckingham Palace, the hotel sits a few doors down from St. James's Palace – the residence of Kings and Queens of England for over 300 years, ever since King Henry 8th built his palace there in the 16th Century.

The area has become synonymous with being an exclusive retreat for writers, musicians, politicians and royalty. The hotel itself was a former favorite destination of Princess Diana and the Queen Mother, and has a reputation for providing a quintessentially British hospitality experience. It offers a mix of modern or classic style bedrooms, luxurious suites, the legendary DUKES Bar and the Great British Restaurant.
