Bushtops Safari Camps, a collection of family-owned luxury safari camps, is excited to announce a new seasonal base for their mobile safari camp, Roving Bushtops’, in the north of Serengeti National Park beginning June 1st, 2025.
Previously, Roving Bushtops moved twice a year, in sync with the migration herds, between the central and southern Serengeti. Now Bushtops has secured an exciting new location in the northern Serengeti, just a 15-minute drive from the Mara River and Kogatende airstrip. The mobile camp will now rove between the northern and southern Serengeti only.
The terrain in the north makes for fantastic game viewing with gorgeous vistas stretching away to both sunset and sunrise and in close proximity to the Mara River and Bologna for incredible rhino sightings. This move offers guests unparalleled access to the Serengeti's most spectacular wildlife events, ensuring front row seats to all of the migration action.
Roving Bushtops will be based in Kusini from December to March, and then in the northern Serengeti from June until October. The new location is a little over 10 miles (a 40-minute game drive) from Serengeti Bushtops, making it easier for guests to combine both Tanzanian camps within a single visit, or add Mara Bushtops just over the Kenyan border.
Roving Bushtops is a unique and innovative concept that combines luxurious amenities with responsible guardianship of the natural environment. The revolutionary eight mobile units allow the camp to shift from locations to align with the migration patterns. The “Rovers,” akin to a super yacht on wheels, were conceived to provide wondrous comfort at the heart of guest’s Serengeti adventure without leaving a footprint. Each unit is solar-powered where fresh water is trucked in from a water hole to avoid depleting local resources, biodegradable waste is composted, and other waste is sent for recycling.
