Nayara Hotel, Spa & Gardens Erupts on to the Luxury Resort Scene
Arenal is most known for its volcano, the third most active in the world, as well as its lush rainforest surroundings, offering some of the top adventure opportunities in Central America. These include volcano treks, zip-lining tours, hikes to Rio Celeste (the area’s beautiful waterway), horseback rides to the La Fortuna waterfall, and whitewater rafting on the Sarapiquí Class III River.

The new Nayara is the perfect base from which to explore this popular portion of Costa Rica, with very friendly rates (starting from $230) and incredibly spacious accommodations (starting from 855 square feet). The property underwent the following changes:

• Doubling in size: 25 new casitas (bungalows) were built while all of the other 25 guest rooms and public areas were renovated.
• Addition of an alfresco spa: A new spa includes four treatment rooms (two of which are open-air massage bungalows), meditation trails, a fitness room, and a custom-made wooden Jacuzzi overlooking a small creek. Treatments employ local ingredients like coffee, aloe vera, and volcanic mud.
• Creation of two new dining options: Sushi Amor serves sushi with a Latin flair and features a specially-designed vodka-dispensing machine where guests can sip and taste a selection of premium and flavored vodka brands. Nostalgia wine and tapas bar encourages guests to sample the best of Latin American and Spanish wines using a similar wine-dispensing system. It also features an open-air terrace, perfect for a secluded drink.

Accommodation:

Nayara offers two suite categories: the Casita Deluxe (855 square feet) and Nayara Suite (1,135 square feet). All are individually decorated and perfectly situated for direct views of Arenal Volcano and feature outdoor showers, oversized marble bathrooms with glass-enclosed rain showers, and private terraces with Jacuzzis for two, hammocks, and chaises. Each suite also comes with complimentary high-speed wireless Internet access/Wi-Fi; and phone calls to the United States are gratis, too.

Dining:

Additionally, Altamira Restaurant (the resort’s all-day-dining option) features Costa Rican and international cuisine while offering some of the best views of the Arenal Volcano (and a telescope to see it, to boot). Kali-Kali is its poolside bar offering “wet” seats in the pool or “dry” seats in the shade.
