Nemacolin's Mystic Rock Named No. 1 in Pennsylvania in Golfweek
Solidifying its position as the best public course in the Keystone State, Mystic Rock has ranked in the top two on Golfweek’s prestigious annual list since 2008. Designed by World Golf Hall of Fame architect Pete Dye, Mystic Rock was the site of the PGA TOUR’s 84 Lumber Classic.

“We are extremely honored Golfweek continues to tout Mystic Rock year after year,” says Mike Jones, director of golf and recreation. “A recognition of this stature is a significant achievement for our golf staff and spotlights the unforgettable experience offered at Mystic Rock.”

Golfweek’s ranking panel consists of 675 voters from seven countries who rely on 10 criteria to rate a golf course. They include overall land plan; variety and memorability of golf holes; conditioning and ecology; and the “walk in the park test,” which rates the sense of the course and whether it’s worthy of spending four hours on it. The number of courses per state varies based on course supply, population and level of play. The Golfweek rankings include daily-fee layouts and golf courses accessible via resorts.

Mystic Rock sits high atop the Pennsylvania Alleghenies and offers championship golf in a spectacular setting. The layout was recently ranked 40th in Golfweek’s “Best Resort Courses in the U.S.” list and No. 60 in Golf Digest’s “America’s 100 Greatest Public Courses.”

On July 12, the 7,151-yard Pete Dye and Tim Liddy-designed Shepherd’s Rock course will join Mystic Rock to give Nemacolin 36 holes of world-class golf. The rolling bucolic terrain proved ideal in fashioning a routing sure to draw raves from both media and guests. It is expected to rival the highest-rated courses in the country, with a picturesque finishing hole sure to provide lasting memories.

In addition to award-winning golf, the Nemacolin Golf Academy offers an array of game improvement programming with Golf Digest “Top 100 Teacher” PGA Professional Eric Johnson. Individual lessons, TrackMan® Golf Radar Solution, SAM Putt Lab, V1 Video System, BodiTracks, one-, two- and three-day golf schools, and one of the leading club-fitting centers on the East Coast are highlights. A commitment to growing the game also abounds, with numerous junior and family golf options.
