New Boutique Hotel to Open Near Kiawah Island, South Carolina
As an independent boutique hotel, The Andell Inn is scheduled to open early 2014 and will be located at Freshfields Village, a shopping and dining destination at the crossroads of Kiawah, Seabrook and Johns Island. The property is a lifestyle hotel concept created by Don Semmler, a 34-year veteran of the hospitality industry and Chief Executive Officer of Local Hotel Adventures.

The Andell Inn's concept will blend warm, modern design with the convenience of apartment living as each room will encompass a full kitchen and living space. The 100-room hotel will offer three room types - studios, one and two-bedroom layouts that have the ability to be joined together to create large multi-room suites. Room rates will start at $250 per night for studios and the property will offer amenities such as a pool, fitness center, large great room with a bar, as well as complimentary breakfast and wireless internet. The Andell Inn will be independently owned and operated.

"Kiawah, Seabrook, and Johns Islands are extraordinary destinations with world-class amenities, award-winning architectural design and a rich history," said Semmler. "Our goal is to create a place that compliments the existing hospitality landscape by delivering an engaging customer experience with smart service and compelling local design characteristics."

The addition of a hotel will create significant, positive economic impact for Freshfields Village, a subsidiary of Kiawah Partners, as well as Charleston County. A study conducted by Bleakly Advisory Group estimates the total economic impact to be $22.8 million and result in dozens of permanent full-time jobs as well as approximately 123 construction jobs required to build the hotel.

"The Andell Inn represents a considerable step in creating additional value for these sea island communities and the future development of Freshfields Village," said Freshfields Village Property Manager, Elisa Cooper. "Given Don's expertise in hotel operation and Kiawah Partners' history of award-winning design and planning, the elements are here to create one of the truly unique hotel venues anywhere in the region."

The hotel is named for the Andell family, who settled in the region in 1876 and once owned all of Seabrook Island including the land where the hotel is being built. Descendants of the family remain in the local area and have inspired some of the design and programming aspects for the inn.
