New Design Hotel QT Sydney Opens this Month
The former iconic Gowings department store and the famed State Theatre were originally opened to the public in 1929. Both the Gothic features of the Palazzo-style Gowings building and the Gothic, Venetian and Art Déco influenced State Theatre have been restored to their pre-war architecture, complete with gargoyles, which have not been seen by the public since before the war.

Spanning both existing buildings on Market Street, the ground-breaking QT Sydney is the latest improvement to the city center. Playing host to a hip designer hotel, café, bar, restaurant and spa, QT Sydney enhances the major revival of the adjacent Pitt Street Mall.

In keeping with the distinct heritage of each landmark building by embarking on a 17-month renovation project, the QT Sydney will make it possible to re-open these historical buildings to hotel guests and the public for the first time in decades.
