New Locally-Inspired Activities Now Offered at Belize’s Las Terrazas Resort
During the wood carving activity, the village carpenter will teach guests to sculpt the Mayan calendar in Belizean Rosewood. This rich, often brainy-grained, brown and blonde wood is found heavily throughout the country. For those looking to reach new heights, lessons in coconut climbing help pupils graduate from the shortest trees to taller ones. Upon dropping the coconuts, the resort will open the fruit for guests to enjoy the milk and meat. During Creole Lessons, students will be provided with pencils, erasers and paper to take notes while learning words like Bonjou (Hello), N a we! (See you later!) and Pa gen pwoblem (No problem). The thirty minute class is an intro to Kriol, the lingua franca of Belize.

With views of the turquoise Caribbean, classes take place poolside or on the beach. Classes must be booked two hours in advance. Summer rates start at $299 per night. The coconut climbing and Creole lessons are complimentary while the wood carving activity costs $50 per person.
