New Private Journeys to Fogo Island Inn

Epicurean Newfoundland is a new culinary journey curated by Quench Trip Design, discerning destination experts specialized in bespoke private travel. In partnership with award-winning Fogo Island Inn and Fishers' Loft, the self-driving point-to-point tour of Canada's easternmost province invites gastronomes to explore the enigmatic landscapes of the Avalon and Bonavista Peninsulas and Fogo Island and to discover a culinary heritage inextricably tied with land and sea. The sustainable-food focused trip is the first of its kind in the area. Seven night departures are available beginning September 1, 2016 through to October 31st, 2016.

Epicurean Newfoundland begins in St. John's, one of the oldest European settlements in North America, where travellers will sample the culinary mastery of Jeremy Charles at Raymond's Restaurant, voted Canada's Best New Restaurant by enRoute Magazine in 2011. The self-drive vacation snakes northbound along the iconic Trans-Canada Highway towards Trinity Bay where guests check into the hilltop Fishers' Loft, known for its seasonal menu using fresh produce from the kitchen garden and greenhouse. From the remote bay, travellers can access the panoramic Skerwink Trail, a 5.3 km coastal loop with abundant bird and whale-watching opportunities (in season). A private boat trip with a local fisherman to visit the abandoned outports of Ireland's Eye and British Harbour is also included in the tour.

Quench travelers follow the trail of sustainable seafood to Fogo Island, where they will board the ferry and spend three nights at the award winning Fogo Island Inn. Guests will enjoy naturalist-guided walks and food foraging, cooking demonstrations and a private tour of the contemporary artist studios on the island, celebrated for their leading edge design. The tour culminates in Gander, in northeastern Newfoundland.
