El Lodge, Sierra Nevada, Spain

El Lodge will open in December 2015 and offer a luxurious boutique ski retreat in Spain’s Sierra Nevada Mountains. The hotel’s layout offers flexible accommodation with options varying from individual rooms and suites to exclusive use of floors. Many rooms feature floor to ceiling windows, spacious terraces with outdoor Jacuzzis or direct access the outdoor sauna and pool, the only open air swimming pool in the Sierra Nevada. El Lodge comes with a Pret-a-Porter service to kit guests out with the very latest ski equipment, including a boot warming service and a selection of apres-ski footwear available for guests taking a short time out from the slopes. 46 pistes and six off-piste runs surround the ski-in ski-out hotel with Chairlift Parador 1 is just 50m from the front door. For those who’ve finished for the day, the hotel’s spa celebrates the elements with revitalising après-ski treatments, the restaurant offers carefully crafted seasonal produce combined with traditional recipes and The Lounge is a relaxing refuge to sip a cocktail by the fire whilst enjoying a vintage film.

Hotel Pashmina Le Refuge, located just steps from the piste, is the latest venture by the Gorini family who have been in Val Thorens for two generations. The hotel will offer 42 bedrooms and eight Cosy Home suites that provide guests with opportunity to stay in en-suite hotel bedrooms but with a communal living area complete with self-catering facilities that make them ideal for large families and groups of friends. Two three-storey apartments are located in a mountain chalet with its own private entrance and are equipped with three bedrooms, private Turkish bath, spacious living room, fully equipped kitchen and include hotel services. Pioneers of the resort the Goitschel family provide a ski hire service in the hotel with an extensive range of products available while award-winning chefs Romauld Fassenet and Josselin Jeanblanc will serve up Alpine classics with flair at Le Base Camp and Les Explorateurs. A L’Occitane spa completes the experience as one of Europe’s highest spas using essential oils from Alpine flowers. Hotel Pashmina Le Refuge will also offer an unforgettable experience with an IglooPod room available on the hotel’s rooftop where fortunate guests can gaze up at the stars as they sleep under the night sky at 2,350m altitude.

Das Marent

Das Marent, Fiss, Austria

Opening for the season on 4th December Das Marent is located in the middle of the Tyrolean Alps, just five minutes from the village centre and ski lifts. Rooms manage to be both sleek and snug - spacious suites and family rooms feature balconies while split-level lofts provide accommodation for up to six guests. The spa at Das Marent has a magical feel, lit by candles and dotted with sculptures, a place where guests can hop between the Finnish sauna and steam bath, take a dip in the pool and curl up on a sofa-sized lounger. The Bruderherzstube Restaurant serves up inventive fine dining and the bar hosts DJs in the evening to help guests unwind by the fire. From the hotel guests can enjoy the 212km of slopes, working their way between numerous traditional alpine huts as the day progresses and access to the cable car in Serfuass-Fiss-Ladis is made easy thanks to a courtesy shuttle from the hotel. An on-site boutique sells locally-made produce and Luis Trenker designs which guests are invited to peruse with a refreshing glass in hand.
