New Traditional Afternoon Tea with a Southern Twist at Waldorf Astoria Atlanta Buckhead

Further exemplifying Waldorf Astoria’s iconic heritage and  exemplary commitment to culinary expertise, Waldorf Astoria Atlanta Buckhead is launching a new traditional afternoon tea service, starting August 29th, 2019. Curated by Executive Chef Christophe Truchet, this latest offering brings a unique local twist to traditional afternoon tea with the addition of Southern culinary inspiration and flavors, presenting a new classic experience for guests and locals to enjoy.

Guests can enjoy Waldorf Astoria Atlanta Buckhead’s afternoon tea in the Café & Bar or on the al fresco terrace overlooking the tranquil English Gardens. Guests are presented with a selection of fine teas alongside traditional accompaniments of finger sandwiches, pastries and scones—or buttermilk biscuits in true Southern fashion—with clotted cream, butter and assorted fruits. Patrons will also enjoy a glass of Champagne with their experience.

Chef Christophe has prepared a diverse selection of savory sandwiches, ranging from the namesake Waldorf Chicken Salad on multigrain bread to deviled farms eggs with house truffle mayonnaise and Espelette pepper. To complement the savory, he presents classic Southern sweets such as mini peach cobbler, chocolate mud pie and banana pudding.

This September, guests can also enjoy a special tea experience in celebration of the highly-anticipated Downton Abbey movie premiere. The Downton Abbey Afternoon Tea will feature a themed menu, including a special Downton Abbey tea blend made by Republic of Tea. Guests are encouraged to dress in their best themed attire, with two of the ‘best dressed’ guests per day receiving complimentary certificates to the Waldorf Astoria Spa. Additionally, each patron will have the chance to receive complimentary screening cards to the film’s Atlanta premiere on September 18th, 2019, courtesy of partners Focus Features and Allied Global. The Downton Abbey Afternoon Tea will be served on September 7th, 8th, 14th and 15th with seatings at 2:00pm and 3:00pm.

Guests can also look for additional variations of afternoon tea throughout the year, including a family-friendly Festive Tea during the winter holidays.

Afternoon tea is served Thursday through Saturday, from 2:00pm to 4:00pm with reservations required 24 hours in advance. To make a reservation, please call 404-995-7500.
