New York's Gramercy Park Hotel Continues to Reinvent Itself

New York's Gramercy Park Hotel Continues to Reinvent Itself
Spearheaded by new General Manager Scott Koster, the hotel is implementing subtle changes that will augment the guest experience, while retaining its distinct personality.

New Tastes – The doors to the once exclusive Private Roof Club have been thrown wide open with the newly reimagined Gramercy Terrace. Perched 18 floors above the urban din with a retracting glass roof, the garden space is set to launch a new menu of Italian-inspired tapas, casual lunch dishes, and seasonal cocktails in time for the summer season. New light lunch and sharable late-night bites menus at Rose Bar, and a gourmet continental breakfast offering at Jade Bar, further expand the hotel's dining options.

Artistic Enhancements – A refresh of all guest rooms providing upgraded lighting, new furnishings, and in some cases, new color schemes is underway. Select public spaces are also receiving subtle upgrades: new décor elements and custom furniture by William T. Georgis Architects will be placed in Rose Bar. The striking artwork found throughout the hotel– which is on loan from private collections– has just been changed, refreshing the hotel's overall décor and offering art lovers the chance to view new rare works by Warhol, Hirst, Prince and other contemporary masters.

Mark the Calendar – Building upon its reputation as the meeting place for creative minds, Creative Director Damion Luaiye is preparing to launch new events geared towards culture seeking guests and Manhattanites at Rose Bar and Gramercy Terrace. Music, fashion, literature, and film will be among the initial themes; details will be announced in early summer.

Renewed Attention to Detail – To transform the guest experience, the hotel has implemented a few simple touches. A new turndown service literally lights the way to a peaceful slumber with a single lit candle inside a small crystal, hand-cut hurricane vase. Thoughtfully chosen books are now found on nightstands, offering the chance for a story before sleep. Bathrooms amenities were also upgraded and now feature products by the best of the beauty world: Red Flower, Devines, and Mario Badescu.

Tech Upgrades – Functionality and guests' lifestyles were the driving principles when executing modern improvements on the historic property. These have included: installation of additional electrical outlets in guestrooms to create a more practical working environment and the implementation of an iPad and iPod loaner program to ensure guests never have to fully unplug, even if they leave their personal gadgets home.
