News from Hôtel Martinez, Ahead of Cannes Film Festival

Hôtel Martinez Cannes opened in 1929 and still continues to embody the carefree spirit of the French Riviera. An iconic Art Deco styled property on Le Croisette, Hotel Martinez boasts 410 rooms and suites and invites guests to savor and share the Riviera’s simple pleasures in a chic yet relaxed atmosphere.

The new Martinez Bar will launch in March 2025 as an evening speakeasy vinyl bar open from 6pm – 2am 5 days a week (7 days in high season). The bar will feature live music and exclusive sharing plates created by Chef Jean Imbert’s team. The opening of the Martinez Bar will make Hôtel Martinez the only hotel in Cannes to have two distinct and unique bars.

La Palme d’Orreopened its doors at the 2024 Cannes Film Festival after an extensive renovation and redesign as a gourmet seafood establishment. La Palme d’Or is spear-headed by Chef Jean Imbert and heavy cinematic influences are woven throughout its design by Rémi Tessier; the menu is crafted to resemble a film script, dishes presented like storyboards, coat-check receipts look like old-fashioned movie tickets, and the dessert menu is designed like a call sheet. The restaurant also features an array of objects to form a cinematic cabinet of curiosities: old movie posters, relics, and scripts with handwritten notes from silver-screen legends.

Hôtel Martinez is also home to La Plage du Martinez, its beach club and restaurant that underwent a complete makeover with strong influences from the Mediterranean and the French Riviera. Le Sudis a lobby-bar Mediterranean restaurant that showcases the flavours of the French Riviera and features bespoke architectural pieces and lighting to change the perception of the space according to the time of the day.

L’Oasis du Martinezis located on the roof of the first floor at the rear of the hotel. The 2,800 sq m garden includes dedicated wellness and relaxation areas in addition to its Carita spa, the first flagship Carita spa outside Paris, a 20 m swimming pool and a 200 sq m fitness room. L’Oasis du Martinez won first prize in the 'Company: Headquarters or Sites of Economic Activity' category at the 2025 Les Victoires du Paysage national landscaping competition.

Also designed by Pierre-Yves Rochon are Hôtel Martinez Cannes’ two penthouse apartmentsspanning 1,250 sq m - among the largest in Europe. Each apartment pays homage to a specific icon of the cinematic world: Isabelle Huppert and Thierry Frémaux, director of the Cannes Film Festival. Located on the 7th floor, each penthouse boasts a panoramic view of the Bay of Cannes, impressive dining and living rooms plus walk-in wardrobes, studies and screening rooms. In the design process, both artists added personal hints to their own apartments to express their individual flair, including selecting specific books, photos, playlists and scents.
