Welcoming guests again starting November 9 after its highly anticipated opening in 2021, Nobu Barbuda offers a new hideaway for travelers in the form of a consciously designed beach club, Nobu restaurant, and lounge.
As the most recent addition, the beach club is an all-day Nobu experience unlike any other, with sun beds and private cabanas – one dedicated to a VIP experience with a lounge and private dining – stretched across the pristine beaches of the island and offers personal hosts for the day, exclusive cabana menu items like a selection of sushi and light bento box, and beach-front massages available upon request. Additional beach club amenities include beverage service from 10:00am to 6:00pm; dry snacks, chips and dried fruits; bottled water; chaise lounges with plush mattresses and towel service; and showers and changing rooms. The beach club also offers a Caribbean style lounge bar, where guests can enjoy remarkable displays of Nobu style dishes, caught fresh from the sea surrounding the island.
New culinary experiences for the upcoming 2022/23 season include:
Beach Barbecue, priced at $500 per person
Set as an exclusive reception style event, Nobu Barbuda combines island and Japanese elements with the launch of its first beach barbecue. Guests will be treated to Robata yaki grilled fish and skewers, Nobu style local seafood Paella, passed canapes, sushi, ceviche's and salads. Entertainment will be provided by local DJs that will complete the Nobu-style festive event.
Unique menu items are the chef’s specials, which change daily based on the local catch and include the famous Barbudan Lobster and Red Snapper prepared three ways, and Conch ceviche and tempura, all exclusive to the new Barbuda outpost. The menu also includes twists on classic Nobu fan favorites, including crispy rice with spicy tuna, miso black cod and Japanese A5 Wagyu cooked over hot stone. Diners can also sip sake and enjoy a list of tropical cocktails while overlooking the boundless turquoise waters that surround the island of Barbuda.
For guests traveling by air to the island, Nobu Barbuda now offers a helicopter package from Antigua to Barbuda in addition to from St. Barts to Barbuda. Travelers seeking to get to Barbuda by sea can enlist in the ultimate boat excursion through Nobu Barbuda, inclusive of snorkeling, cocktails at a private sandbar, pink sand beaches, Nobu lunch and a sunset viewing on the beach.
Following the restaurant and beach club, Robert DeNiro and partners will continue to build out the project in Barbuda, titled the Nobu Beach Inn, which will add a resort hotel, spa and wellness retreat, private residences as well as an organic farm and nursery to the property in the coming years. The property will be designed and developed with long-term respect for the island’s ecosystems in mind.
For years, Barbuda has been a favorite destination among city dwellers and the jet-set, and Nobu Barbuda occupies the same site that once housed Princess Diana’s favorite getaway, The K Club. With miles of secluded white and pink sand beaches, lagoons abundant with wildlife, and calm Caribbean waters, the island continues to provide a “must-do” day trip escape for Caribbean travelers – setting the stage for Nobu Barbuda to offer guests a relaxing and immersive experience in a private and intimate setting.
The island itself is only accessible by yacht or private boat charter, private helicopter charter and twice daily flights from Antigua. Upon the completion of a new Barbuda airport later this year, there will be an international point of arrival and departure for private jets to have direct access to the island as well as charter flights from neighboring islands, such as St. Barts, St. Kitts and Nevis.
