Oetker Collection Revamps Seychelles' Sanctuary, Fregate Island Private
A truly authentic Seychelles experience, Fregate Island Private remains one of the most exclusive private islands worldwide and its extensive refurbishment is now complete.

The new Managing Director of the Island, Wayne Kafcsak, brings 35 years of experience in the luxury hospitality sector to the resort. Kafcsak has the support of experienced staff from other hotels in the Collection. The island's new Executive Chef, Alan Larch, who joined in October, has become an integral team member, embracing the culinary culture at Fregate Island Private, soon to be joined by a new international spa director.

Guests consistently award Fregate Island Private staff as the best in the Seychelles, exceeding all other competing hotels in the area. The staff is comprised of 37 different nationalities to meet guests' needs. The island has recently implemented Living Quarters Allowance (LQA) standards so that employees are appropriately assisted with their living standards. The property has also reinforced training programs to ensure all staff members are experienced to handle the high demands of a luxury resort.

All guestrooms at Fregate Island Private have been revamped with exciting amenities such as upgraded air conditioning systems, high-speed wireless internet, new television systems, Nespresso coffee machines, mini-bar units and wine chillers as well as bed linens. Fregate Island Private is also thrilled to debut an assortment of island amenities and offerings. Fregate renovated the marina area with brand-new equipment, and also revamped the Yacht Club, Anse Bamboo Beach Bar and the Pirate Bar. All resort gardens and green spaces have been groomed to perfection, reaffirming Fregate Island as the ultimate Seychelles reservation. A brand new kids Club with games and a playground is now facing one of the island's seven beaches.

Fregate Island Private's commitment to conservation is stronger than ever. The resort has significantly improved its Magpie Robin, sea turtle and land tortoise projects. It should be noted that the Aldabra giant tortoise colony now exceeds 2200 species. Additional scientific developments continue to advance the property's overall position as a recognized leader in sustainable development. The Island has installed new, state-of-the-art fuel-efficient generators to power the island and a wastewater plant that converts wastewater to 95% pure usable water for irrigation.

Fregate Island Private recently purchased a fleet of novel golf carts, all of which are powered by hybrid technology, as well as new Cummins ultra-fuel saving boat engines. LED and CFC lighting have been installed throughout the property. Finally, major pruning and landscaping improvements are now complete in several locations on the island.
