One Luxurious Scandivanian Holiday Spread Over a Year

A new travel concept has been launched allowing guests to travel across Scandinavia and experience the best of the region in six mini-holidays. The coordinated “Scandinavia Six” holiday experience includes six separate adventures through four countries designed for guests looking for shorter, more frequent breaks away.

Over the course of the year, travelers will immerse themselves in everything Scandinavia with experiences ranging from romantic log cabin stays, to adventure packed Northern Lights and Midnight Sun adventures, and even a historic city break.

The new concept was developed by travel experts at Off the Map Travel who recognized a desire for visitors to experience more of the region at different times of the year, yet were struggling to take a lot of extended holiday from work.

“Included in this new holiday concept are six separate trips to Scandinavia spread throughout the year, each lasting three nights over a long-weekend,” says Jonathan Cooper, Arctic travel expert and founder of Off the Map Travel. “Although the overall plan can be adapted for each guest, each Scandinavian Six adventure will include the best accommodation and activities to showcase Scandinavia at its best across its varied seasons.”

Ideal for those with busy work schedules, the new itinerary can be started at any point in the year, however is recommended to begin with a romantic valentines weekend in February where guests will travel to Alesund, Norway, where they will settle into a suite at Hotel Storfjord complete with private fjord cruise, spa treatments and a dip in the outdoor Jacuzzi.

In April, when the light is returning to the Arctic yet there is still a thick blanket of snow, guests will embark on a long weekend to Kiruna and Abisko in Sweden filled with classic Arctic activities including everything from snowmobiling, ice fishing, snowshoeing, cross country or heli- skiing – and an outdoor dinner hunting for the Northern Lights.

In June, it’s time to head even further north to Svalbard, Norway, destined for 24 hours of sunlight and the Midnight Sun. This weekend will be filled with hiking, boat trips and wildlife – hopefully seeing both walrus and polar bears!

The fourth installment in September sees a journey to Rovaniemi in Finland with autumn colors and the start of the Aurora season. Guests will enjoy an evening in a glass roofed igloo to experience the Northern Lights and an expert photography tour to learn the skills required to capture the Aurora. There’s even time to get in the early Christmas spirit and visit the home of Santa.

A historic city break in Copenhagen in October adds history from Denmark to the year-round adventure with a walking tour, private boat trip on the canals and the chance to visit some of the many historic landmarks of the city.

And finally, to top off the year in style, Off the Map Travel will invite guests to join them for not one, but two New Year’s celebrations, first in Finland before crossing the border for yet another an hour later in Sweden. Add to this dogsledding, a Northern Lights snowshoe adventure and a traditional New Year celebration of food and fireworks and the year will finish with a bang.

“This is a holiday that brings the best of the region together. From city to remote wilderness; Health and wellbeing to adventure and adrenaline – all topped off with the chance to experience the Northern Lights from some of the best destinations in the world,” adds Off the Map Travel’s Jonathan Cooper. “Scandinavia is a destination to explore and this new concept allows our guests to do just that, but also see the region in a different light throughout the year - and make it work with their busy lifestyles.”

As with any itinerary from Off the Map Travel, every adventure can be tailor-made to fit the wishes and requirements of any guest. As an example, the Scandinavian Six itinerary outlined includes six separate trips each lasting for four days and three night over weekends spread across the year, costing from £9999 per person, not including flights. In total this includes 18 nights’ accommodation in quality accommodation on a B&B basis with some meals included, transfers and a wide range of activities in all locations some on a private basis.
