Orient-Express Unveils Stunning New Lagoon at Napasai, Thailand

Orient-Express announced the reopening of Napasai following a month long closure, during which a 28,000m2 crystal clear lagoon and nature reserve have been created.

Located on the idyllic island of Koh Samui, Thailand, the project has been hailed a major success for the secluded beach resort. Dead coral and underwater rocks have been carefully removed to craft a haven for vibrant fish and a diversity of corals, producing a wildlife paradise for snorkelers.

Ideal for children and those snorkelling for the first time, the lagoon features very calm clear waters and all enhancements have been carried out under the supervision of the local marine authority. Guests can swim, or even walk at low tide, out to the reef and snorkel in the pools. Those that are inspired to explore further can take a PADI dive course during their stay.

To celebrate its reopening, Napasai has created the Lagoon Discovery package to encourage guests to explore this new underwater sanctuary. This project is the latest phase in Orient-Express' investment in Napasai. In January 2010, the resort's private beach was expanded by 1,800m², complemented by a new barbecue restaurant, serving fresh local seafood and grilled dishes. Napasai's 14 private pool residences, some of which are ocean front, and 39 cottages were renovated in the same project, making them some of the most stylish and comfortable properties on the island.
