The St. Regis Washington, D.C. expands its celebrated afternoon tea offering with the debut of Presidential Afternoon Tea, a specialty tea service that invites guests and Washingtonians to celebrate the hotel’s storied past and pay homage to U.S. presidents throughout history. Boasting a prestigious address just steps away from the White House, The St. Regis Washington, D.C. has played host to nearly every U.S. President since opening its doors in 1926 – placing its guests at the center of an extraordinary legacy. The St. Regis Washington D.C.’s Presidential Afternoon Tea celebrates this history with a menu of both savory and sweet bites that highlight favorite foods and desserts of U.S. presidents throughout history.

“The St. Regis Washington, D.C. has long served as the backdrop for important milestones in our nation’s history and a gathering place for notable political figures,” said Elias Assaly, General Manager of The St. Regis Washington, D.C. “We are excited to spotlight the hotel’s place in U.S. presidential history alongside the delectable creations imagined by our culinary team with our new Presidential Afternoon Tea service.”

Offering a creative spin on the signature St. Regis Afternoon Tea ritual, this historic culinary journey features a grand Presidential-inspired display of exquisite desserts, pastries, tea sandwiches, and scones, all illustrating an anecdote from the hotel’s past and dessert inspiration of various U.S. presidents who have frequented the halls of the iconic hotel. Enjoy a layered blueberry cheesecake inspired by President Franklin D. Roosevelt’s love for his wife’s blueberry pudding in the very space that once served as the meeting place of choice for the Roosevelt Administration to mingle with Hollywood luminaries such as Katharine Hepburn and Orson Welles. Inspired by President Carter’s upbringing on his family’s peanut farm, delight in a peanut butter chocolate opera cake just steps from where he announced his presidential campaign at The St. Regis Washington, D.C. in the early 1970s. Other menu highlights include: a toasted coconut lime cream profiterole inspired by President Reagan’s obsession for jellybeans, a frangipane apple compote tart designed after President Coolidge’s favorite meal of apple pie with pork, golden raisin scones, smoke salmon and caviar toasts, cucumber tea sandwiches and more.

To bring the tea experience to life, the hotel has partnered with Dammann Frères to offer the finest selection of black, green and herbal teas. For those looking to indulge, a Champagne pairing is also available.

Located in The St. Regis Washington, D.C.’s opulent lobby lounge, Presidential Afternoon Tea is available Thursday to Sunday from 1PM-5PM with pricing starting at $65 per person.
