Launching this October, Pulitzer Amsterdam – a design-forward luxury hotel made up of 25 connected Golden Age canal houses – is launching a ‘Paint Like Van Gogh’ offering in partnership with the Van Gogh Museum. When booking this immersive art experience, guests will receive unlimited access to the museum during their stay as well as a private painting lesson at Pulitzer Amsterdam, accompanied by an exclusive cocktail inspired by the color palette of the Van Gogh painting of focus.
The offering includes:
During the stay, guests will have flexible access to the Van Gogh Museum – typically, visitors are required to purchase tickets for select time slots when visiting the museum – where they will learn about Van Gogh’s life, his artwork and inspiration for each piece. As guests immerse themselves in the museum, they will follow a timeline of the artist’s life and observe how Van Gogh began adding color to his paintings, ultimately, becoming a master of color among Impressionism artists of his time. He dared to put bright colors next to each other on the canvas and paint clearly defined figures.
After gathering inspiration at the museum, the budding artists will partake in a 75-minute painting lesson at Pulitzer Amsterdam led by Mirjam ter Maat, a painter, visual art therapist and owner of the art workshop, Meesterwerken Op Maat. Each lesson will explore a specific painting, diving into Van Gogh’s technique and creativity for the piece. Guests will have the opportunity to utilize their new knowledge in recreating a select painting using the appropriate color palette. To create a fully immersive paint and sip experience, each individual will enjoy a complimentary cocktail from Pulitzer’s Bar. The cocktails – created by Pulitzer’s Bar’s Head Bartender Andrei Talapanescu – will be inspired by the color palette of one of Van Gogh’s famous paintings, using home-made syrups and garnishing.
Art enthusiasts are encouraged to upgrade their stay to accommodations in Pulitzer Amsterdam’s Art Collector’s Suite, pending availability. The design of the room is inspired by a compulsive art devotee who may have lived in the canal house during the 17th century. The suite’s walls are decorated with the enormous collection of art gathered through the years by the hotel. The focal point of the suite is a 20x6 ft. painting titled "Hals Brunch” by Thierry Bruet, which resembles The Last Supper. Upon closer inspection, one will spot modern items including beer cans, a laptop and cheeseburger.
The ‘Paint Like Van Gogh’ offering begins at $1,150 with a minimum of two nights and can be booked for stays from October 22 – December 23, 2018 by following this link: https://www.pulitzeramsterdam.com/specials/
