Quasar Expeditions’ luxury expedition vessel, exclusive for 32 guests, the Quasar Evolution, has returned to the water following extensive renovations that unveiled environmentally friendly upgrades and a refreshed design for the small-sized yacht. Known for offering one-of-a-kind experiences around the remote Galápagos Islands, the relaunch coincides with the family-owned company’s 40th anniversary this year, and its annual Darwin Family Cruise set to depart July 18 – 25. The Quasar Evolution sails on two different 8-day itineraries and one 15-day itinerary, inspired by Charles Darwin’s discoveries spanning the islands.
With complete comfort and privacy alongside “Charles Darwin.” Professor Kenneth Noll, a renowned microbiologist with over 40 years of experience, will once again join the unique family-friendly journey to retrace Darwin’s historic journey nearly 200 years later. Blending Darwin’s perspective with modern scientific insights, Noll will portray Charles Darwin to offer a captivating and educational exploration of the islands and their natural wonders.
The 8-day cruise explores many islands, including San Cristobal, South Plazas, Santa Cruz, Mosquera, and even remote islands that are inaccessible to larger vessels like Genovesa and Santa Fe. While visiting some of the very landscapes that shaped Darwin’s discoveries, guests will have access to pristine hiking trails, secluded coves, and up-close wildlife encounters through snorkeling, kayaking, paddleboarding, and panga rides. Quasar’s smaller footprint allows for reduced environmental impact while navigating the delicate ecosystems of the Galápagos. As a family-owned company celebrating its 40th anniversary this year, Quasar takes pride in its family-oriented naturalists on board, offering some of the most knowledgeable, watchful professionals in the area who ensure an unforgettable experience for curious travelers of all ages.
The yacht’s new design elements are inspired by the Galápagos landscape, with natural patterns reminiscent of the islands’ volcanic action and artwork of endemic species made of natural materials like teak wood, stone, and bamboo sourced from the coastal areas of Ecuador to create an authentic safari-style expedition atmosphere throughout the yacht and its 16 cabins, combining luxury with an authentic safari-style adventure.
In addition to the revamp of its dining areas, suites, cabins, and common areas, all designed by Galápagos specialists, guests also have unobstructed 360º views for optimal wildlife viewing. With the installation of a main propulsion engine replacement to reduce the vessel’s fuel consumption by 35%, Quasar continues its four-decade legacy of preserving this delicate ecosystem.
