Remote Lands Unveils 'Hiking & Helicopters in Nepal'

Remote Lands, the ultra-luxury tour operator renowned for its bespoke journeys across Asia, has announced a new, highly curated Everest Base Camp experience that redefines how travelers reach the “Roof of the World”. Taking place from May 16–30, 2026, Hiking & Helicopters in Nepal: The Secret Path to Everest is a 15-day, lodge-to-lodge journey that involves trekking, helicopter transfers, and unique lodge and hotel accommodations, offering a refined alternative to the traditional Everest Base Camp route.

This expedition is led by expert mountaineer Jamling Tenzing Norgay, son of Everest pioneer Tenzing Norgay, who along with Sir Edmund Hillary, were the first to reach the summit of Mount Everest in 1953. The journey follows a lesser-traveled path through the Khumbu region, allowing guests to experience the Himalayas at a slower, more immersive pace. Rather than enduring long, congested trekking days, travelers hike shorter distances while helicopters are used to bypass heavily trafficked sections of the trail, opening access to quieter valleys and dramatic aerial approaches rarely experienced by traditional trekkers.

“This journey reflects how we believe high end adventure travel should feel,” said Catherine Heald, CEO & Co-Founder of Remote Lands. “It’s not about racing to Everest Base Camp, but about experiencing the journey in a more thoughtful way. By combining mindful trekking with helicopters, exceptional lodges, and rare access, we’ve created a more immersive and rewarding way to experience one of the world’s most extraordinary landscapes.”

A defining highlight of this itinerary is a helicopter landing directly at Everest Base Camp after the spring climbing season has concluded. With crowds dispersed, guests are granted rare permission to spend the night at a private tented camp at 17,598 feet, an extraordinary opportunity typically reserved for mountaineering expeditions. From this secluded base, travelers take in outstanding views of the Khumbu Glacier and surrounding peaks before celebrating their arrival at the foot of the world’s highest mountain.

Each couple or solo trekker on the journey is accompanied by their own private guide and porter, allowing them to set their own pace that feels comfortable as they work their way toward the ascent. Acclimatization days are thoughtfully built into the itinerary to help guests adapt to the increasing altitudes. Many evenings, the group will often reconvene to share reflections from the day alongside Jamling.

The journey begins and concludes at Dwarika’s Hotel in Kathmandu, located in the heart of Nepal, showcasing the grandeur of Newari civilization and offering spacious accommodations – here, you will have your own private car, driver, and guide to enjoy highlights of Kathmandu. Along the trail, guests stay at six Mountain Lodges of Nepal, elevating the Everest experience at every step.

Limited to just 12 guests, the journey is priced from $29,032 per person and is suited for couples, friends, and solo travelers seeking a once-in-a-lifetime Himalayan experience without sacrificing comfort, access, or authenticity.
