Rome Cavalieri, A Waldorf Astoria Hotel introduces a refreshed Afternoon Tea and Aperitivo experience at its Tiepolo Lounge & Terrace, welcoming guests to enjoy these new signature highlights of the spring season.
In homage to the hotel’s museum-worthy art collection, the new Art of Tea Time combines the charms of traditional Afternoon Tea rituals with an artful selection of sweet and savory delights, all while being surrounded by the lounge’s prized master artworks. Alongside this, the lounge’s Aperitivo offerings are to be refreshed with new culinary delights that pair perfectly with a curated selection of cocktails.
The Art of Tea Time
The Art of Tea Time invites guests to enjoy a thoughtful respite from their Roman adventures in the heart of the afternoon, from 3:30 – 5:30pm. The experience begins with the tea, from organic Jasmine to the amber notes of Darjeeling and more. Adding a departure from tradition, the bartender team has created a special tea infused cocktail inspired by the flavors of spring – the Smoked Spiked Tea that features Patron Reposado Tequila, Earl Grey tea cordial, Lapsang Souchong tea, lime and orange bitters. A zero-alcohol version is also available, swapping in Tequila for Almave 0°.
Accompanying the tea is a curated gastronomic selection. The whimsical display showcases French pâtisserie classics—madeleine, canelé and chocolate choux—alongside reimagined Roman icons including the maritozzo, a traditional sweet bun generously filled which whipped cream. Traditional English tea accoutrements round out the selection with scones, clotted cream and homemade preserves, and finger sandwiches with avocado and tomato.
While guests enjoy their Art of Tea Time assortment, the mood is further set by the soothing sounds of a harpist, who plays on Wednesdays – Sundays. The Art of Tea Time experience is priced at €45 per person, inclusive of a tea or tea cocktail and the culinary accoutrements. Guests may enhance their selection with a glass of Rosé Franciacorta for an additional €10.
The Aperitivo
As the evening turns with the Roman setting sun, Tiepolo Lounge & Terrace sets the scene for a sophisticated interpretation of the Italian Aperitivo tradition. Its central feature is the Art Collection-inspired cocktails which embody the theme of “artistic inspiration in a glass,” and utilize thoughtfully selected ingredients and flavor profiles to illustrate a sensory story for guests.
To accompany this, new light bites have been developed by Executive Chef Nicholas Cuomo, that are elegantly presented on a tiered stand. Guests can enjoy a rotating selection that includes Frollino Bianco Cacio & Pepe, crispy sesame puff pastry with whipped porchetta, pane e pomodoro with Cinta Senese prosciutto, bread with butter and anchovies, mortadella and pistachio bigné, as well as more unexpected pairings such as chocolate shortbread with gorgonzola or crispy potato bon bon with red prawn and tartar sauce.
